Do you ever play over the looper? That could be a handy thing for counterpoint or melodic ideas.

I won an auction today for a Free The Tone Bass Blaster O/D pedal
I'm optimistic that this will be really cool
It may force me into tidying up the music room before I pack it up when our house finally gets repaired later this year

Not too much. I don't have a real looper, just a function in the Boss ME-50B multi. It's got a pathetically short loop time, enough for maybe one bar at mid-tempo. I'd like to get a real one.

It is a tube preamp with tube overdrive and d.i. box with optional speaker emulation. It makes my tone come alive when using hifi-esque class D bass amplifiers.

Ahh, it's the device you were referring to, though not by name, a while back when I was asking about how to get good bass recordings-
 
Nice demo- gotta love the guy's hair and persona- I wonder if he's Penn Gillete's cousin. Btw, I've read that Penn is bass enthusiast himself.
I'll look into this pedal. So when you DI into you're DAW, do you have any special settings there?

Several boards for different gigs here. The small version has tuner, comp, overdrive, tube pre. The large adds mod fx, wah, fuzz, tremolo, octaver/whammy.

fx I have ditched: delays and reverbs. I never used those.
