I find myself GASing for effects lately, and this thread isn't helping. Although it's certainly cheaper than GASing for new basses... ;)

Half the things I'm thinking of would replace/upgrade what I currently use...
 
Hi all here is my pedalboard. It covers pretty much everything i need for the bands that i play in. EBS make great pedals and my tonebone is so i can switch between my Warwick and my Fender Jazz(am i allowed to say that word on here?) as they have very different output levels and it makes changing basses real easy.8:
 
hey mate! Yeah i really am impressed with the ToneBone as it solved a very annoying problem with changing basses at gigs for me. It takes away the need to adjust your volume at your amp or mixing desk when changing basses which almost always have differing volumes. Also you can adjust the EQ on the 2nd bass, which is what i do with my Fender Jazz or Frettless, which is handy. Also has a boost switch which works on both channels. Hope this helps!8:
 
Great posts guys! LOL, when I first bought I bass I bought ever pedal under the sun and stuck them on a pedalboard, I thought it was so cool to have 20 different sounds a click away. Even had a custom true bypass 8 way selector switch made for me by pedalracks.com to keep my pedals out of my chain.

Over the years I slowly got rid of the effects and started concentrating on improving and getting the best clean tone I could (which all began shortly after buying my first Warwick), which is what I should've been doing from day one. After a while I had just a Boss Bass Chorus and Boss TU2 tuner left.

Nowadays I'm getting back into effects because I've learned to use them more sparingly. Plus I need to match the tones produced on our album, so effects are sometimes (but sparingly, thank god) required. The best thing I did, and I recommend everyone check this system out, especially if you utilize a wireless system, is to rack your effects and use MIDI to control them through a GCX switcher. The flexibility and control over your effects becomes limitless, not to mention you can switch between amps too. In addition, your signal is drastically improved by eliminating almost all your instrument cable. Currently I have less than 20 feet of Monster Bass cable custom soldered and making all my connections in my rack.

If anyone wants to chat or comment or ask questions about my system or want suggestions of the possibilities of your rig, feel free. I've gotten pretty good at this type of setup, I feel it's the ideal live rig for modern bassists. My guitarist has the same system as me, too. : )

latest, b4 the wick i am using a PT-2 with a truck load of effects and dirt pedal. after the wick. it got downsize to a pt-jr. now i am in the midst of downsizing to a Pt-mini or a custom board that can fit 4-5 pedals. tryiing to get as much wick sound out without coloring it too much.

Trade a delay for the Tone Factor 442 Red. It's a DOD440 Clone that is modded for bass. On it's own it's alright but it really shines with my OC-2 and Supercollider engaged.

You'll also note the new carpet.

I need to replace two oddball and space gobbling Fender Tone Master patches. I think I'm going to start soldering my own patch cables.

From what I know; Os, the owner of Music Electronix, is going to try and mechanize some of his production,...so he may be back to taking orders at some point in time. He likes designing pedals but was turned off by a cranky customer and it wasn't too lucrative for him (his pedals are under-priced IMO). It's a one man operation and the pedals are somewhat sought after. He may make a return.

The submarine and other M.E. pedals come up used from time to time so check ebay or the . When it's in the budget I'm going to try to pick up a Gemini Drive.
 
sweet i might just camp talkbass and see if he makes a comeback and the pre mechanize submarine might just be a collector's item ;p

It's easy enough to research. Just check the effects subforum and look for the "music electronix NO MORE" thread.

Long story short, he has decided to reorganize and keep in ths business.

Haven't been by in a while, but here is a new incarnation of my pedalboard.



I downsized all the pedals that didn't contribute to the funk or the fuzz. Which meant that the Music Electronix Submarine got sold. I'm actually looking into a new Submarine Designer Edition when Os goes back into production. The Sub DE has more control as a preamp (more knobs makes me happy). For the moment I'm waiting on a Boss LS-2 and a Moogerfooger Bass MuRF; a pedal I've been lusting after for about a year now.
 
Nothing really fancy for me, I'm afraid.

I use a Bassbone for switching between upright and electric basses during a show. Especially with the film group (play original scores to silent films), you have MAYBE a second to switch, so having that at my feet is fantastic.

I also have a Line 6 BassPod XT Live that I use in theatres quite regularly. It's nice to be able to emulate different amps without lugging them around (case in point, much easier to have me emulate Entwistle's bass sound for a run of TOMMY than try to cram a wall of sound rig into a small pit). I've spent enough time with it that I can easily tweak things on the fly, although I do most of it while it's plugged into the computer.

Here is an update.



I've outgrown this pedalboard but since I want about 3 expression pedals and a momentary footswitch to use with the Moog, I'm going to wait on pulling the trigger on a new board. I'm not sure if I want to go with two separate boards or one big heavy board. I'm looking into pedaltrains for sure.

Those bassbones are great tools.

Do you run the Line6 to the FOH in lieu of amps? I've used the Bass Pod XT. It's cool but I don't need amp modeling. the M9 or M13 would be a little more appropriate for me, but for the moment I prefer individual stomps.

When I can. With my gig at church, it goes straight into a DI box, into FOH and monitors. Usually with the theatre, it has done that same thing into the effects return of my amp, making it just a personal monitor.

I'm thinking of doing a hybrid at this point; keeping the XT, but also having some extra stomps around that I can add in. Given that there are limitations to how many effects you can set up (and only one of each kind at a time), having an extra stomp or two on the back-end would add some more options.
 
Have any of you guys ever tried the Boomerang Phrase Looper? I tried messin' with the Boss looper but found the sound to be a little weak and not real ideal for recording lines on the fly.
