RockBass Corvette Basic

Hi musicians!

I want to buy a new bass. I have a Yamaha 4-strings and I notice the sounds is not like some years ago, so I want to buy a new one.

I was thinking about buying a Warwick bass, but I was offered a RockBass Corvette Basic for a good price (380€). So, I don't know if it deserves to buy a Warwick bass wich will be more expensive than the Rockbass, what do you think? Is a good bass the Rockbass one?

Rockbasses offeretremendous value for the money, and are worth every penny...

They have a different character than full-blown warwicks (due to different woods...), but are very capable instruments and you will want to keep it if you ever buy a warwick...
 
i have just gone thru this.
and bit the bullet and bought the vette basic 4 string to replace the aged hohner pj,
wow what a great bit if kit, very easy to just pick up and play, but beware the adjustable nut (justanut) as version 2 seems very easy to break.
that said, the sound is excellant, and quality seems good.
classic warwick body shapes at a budget to suit.
do it, do it, do it..........
you wont regret it.
 
Both Rockbasses and Warwicks are really good. It depends on what you want. It seems that you are not convinced with the sound of Warwick. You said you want to buy a new bass, because you feel like your Yamaha doesn't sound right anymore. This means that you are looking for a different kind of sound. Rockbasses sound great, but of course, so do Warwicks. Even though they look pretty much the same, and have similar features, they sound totally different. If you really want that Warwick sound, then you can only get it out of a Warwick. But if you just want good sound (and a really good bass for that matter), you can also get it out of a Rockbass. What is it exactly that you are looking for ?? And a very warm welcome to the forum bienzo !!! :D Cheers man. :D
 
iv got a rockbass vette basic, very nice bass, easy to play, extremly light tho, lacks a bit of sustain, id put heavier strings on it, sounds like a fair enough price, but if you can get a warwick for afew hundred more id go for that first, a nice vette standard maybe, the difference in tone between the 2 is quite large and you will pronally want the warwick tone in the future anyway. :)
 
The Vette basic is a great little bass for the bucks, I love mine, plays amazingly well, nice sound range, mine's active and I got it used in like new condition (had the original strings with tons of life left in 'em) for $260 US. Even came with the Premium Plus bag from a Bubinga Corvette (had the tags in it).

For shear price insanity, if you can do a bit more, you can occasionally find great condition used RB Fortresses for a good deal. My 5 banger was under 400. That bass would be credible with a little W on the head rather than the RB logo. It is that good. It holds it's own for sound quality and sound range with my WW Fortress, also for build quality. The RB Fortress is an alternative sounding Warwick that just happens to be made in China, IMHO.
 
thank you for your answer. Finally i bought the Rockbass Corvette Basic because you cheer me up :)

I'm looking forward to play it with my band. I've alredy play it with my amp (warwick sweet 25.1) and I have to say the sound is really great. I can get different sounds with the bass depending on equalization. Anyways, finally i didn't spend so much money as i had thought. So, if one day I am sure of the sound i want, I can buy another bass.

Excellent news !!! :D I was quite skeptical about the sound of Rockbass, but I recently tested some, and I was very impressed. :D You're going to love your Rockbass.............Congratulations man. :D
 
hi guys,

To own a warwick has always been a dream and i just recently heard of the corvette basic model for an affordable price. so i'm selling my old ibanez and throwing in some more cash and buying a corvette. but different dealers here charge different prices . There's a difference of 10000 Indian Rupees! First dealer charges rs. 19000 and the other one rs. 29000. Whoa! I'm in a bit of a dillemma now. I will be going to the dealer (cheaper) sometime this month and testing it for real. Let's see how it goes.

The Rockbass Corvette Basic is a very nice bass...I love mine. It's not exactly the same as my Warwick Corvette STD, but I've got to tell you it's not that far off ;)

I wouldn't be without it.

is there lots of difference between rockbass corvette basic active and passive? is passive also as good as active?
 
Rockbasses great basses. They're competing against musicmen and MIM (and some MIA) fenders.
Rockbass might not win against american made musicmen and mim and mia fenders but they're giving them a headache, that's for sure :D

Still, if your funds doesn't allow a Warwick Corvette STD. A rockbass is a very good alternative :)
 
I haven't tried the vampyre darklord.
Only warwicks I've tried is my corvette standard. Thumb 2003 LTD and a Rockbass Corvette

or year i used to have warwick corvetter; basic very cruppy bass if you ask me compare to my Duck Lord. :lol:

And I find the "Duck" Lord extremely "cruppy" comparing to... the Vampyre NT for example. :) But I'm sure that no one is interested in hearing how crappy his bass is, comparing to other models. It's a matter of taste after all, so would you please "agry" to stop making those kind of remarks? Thanks :)

You will understand some day that the price of the instrument doesn't necessary define it's quality, and it doesn't increase your musical knowledge... Markus Setzer for example made some recordings on a Corvette Basic, "the cruppy model" that couldn't be matched by users here and their AMAZING Dark Lords in a thousand years :)

I've got to tell you I've played some crappy basses before, and the Warwick Corvette Basic isn't one of them.

They're great basses, regardless of their price tag, and are much higher quality than some basses costing a great deal more.
 
Well i have never tried a rockbass but i can tell you about Warwick and other basses.

The first warwick i got was a Corvett STD 5 stringer. i bought it for 600 euros and when i did have it my thoughts were: what great craftmenship! i remember looking at it and felling it (it was a bubinga) and thinking to myself: this feels f***in solid and feels like its gonna last forever. then i plugged it in; wow what a sustain. back then i had a MM Stingray 5 and a Fender JazzBass Ash '77 this one was cheaper and blew them both away when it comes to tone and sustain! well does that tell you something? i hope so.

that was my first imperssion of warwick, then came along a Streamer Stage I and then a Stage II man you simply cannot imagine how these basses are compared to other brands.

but Rockbass is great for starters, i bet it is way better then most other entry level instrument and i think they can compete with mainstream basses from big companies.
