Rig planning / New bass?

Might be wenge then...or dyed/painted. Thus back to the discussion whether to search my backside off for a 99 or earlier or save up to buy a new B4 4 bubinga :) I like my Bolt-on kit so far, and I could not test the new BO 4 bubinga in the shop, anyone got any experice with it? If I can roughly get that TengBurton sound without spending crazy amounts of money, that would be sweet, beggars can't be choosers :D

From the material point of view, the BO should sound a bit livlier then the NT due to the neck, as well as a tad warmer due to the wenge fingerboard. Finally, the brass nut should offer an increased sustain and better intonation...
 
Personally, I think my FNA is the growliest most ridiculously butt-ripping bass I've ever heard. Seriously. The freaking thing scares me sometimes. My neighbor's cat just died and I'm pretty sure the FNA did it.

And cost-wise, they're less expensive than any USA Jazz or MM.

my own thumb nt5 has a jan2 and a wenge neck.+ its 18v ..and its an april 1999 bass...so there are different versions/builds out there i think

yeah :) It seems there are various changes and types, so I have resigned myself to just finding a soewhat similar sound and then I am game :)
From the general searching forum travelling I got the following:
JAN3 Brass adds to sound in general
Bubinga is not or minimally different in sound from Bubinga Pommele and adds more low mids and lows then the Ovankol body
Ovangkol Neck is sounding just about the same as Wenge and can be EQed easily to make up the difference
The neck through vs Bolt On difference is not very pronounced due to the joint reinforcement but adds a little more bass on the NT and a slightly quicker attack to the BO.

Thus so far it looks like the 2001 BO will sound pretty much like the 99 Thumb of TenguBurton and thus be the right choice....or did I miss anything?

Regarding the FNA Jazzman, as I have a $$ already which sounds pretty similar, I can't afford to invest into a too similar sounding instrument.
