Quick question concerning the fretlless option

Hello all,

I've played a couple of fretless Warwicks so far (mostly Corvette Std. basses) and I love them. My custom bass will definitely be a fretless. Recently however I had the chance to play a fretless Corvette Std. 5-string fretless bass which had lines and dots at the side of the fingerboard (not on the fingerboard as inlays). My questin is can I choose if I want to have lines and dots on the side or just dots? If yes, does it cost more to have lines and dots on the side?

I think that unlined fretless bass still have dots on the side of the fingerboard...

No doubt, they do. What I meant was lines on the side of the fretboard and dots combined.

Yes this can be done. At the price of the standard lined fretless option but don't quote me on that. The side lines are a little bit inside the fretboard, about half an inch can be seen from the front. In the case of you not getting the side lines, on a fretless the dots are changed to be in the position where the fret would normally be.

alembic this on most of their fretless basses. it is a cool concept, but at the end of the day nothing will help you play in tune more than your ears. start learning to play without looking at the fretboard. the mind will remember "positions" like on a double bass and things will become easier. don't worry if it takes a while.

I somehow have no problems playing fretless basses. I have my own system of locating the ideal position where to place my fingers on the fingerboard. I mainly use the dots.
