Questions about Streamer Std

Hey guys...I just got a 5 string Streamer STD, with 1 pickup. I have a few questions about it:

1) What does the push/pull pot do? Is it a series/parallel switch?

2) The finish is pretty beat up, what can I do to restore it?
 
Hi and welcome to the great family! the push/pull is probably an active/passive switch (check if you need a battery). Take and publis some pics of the bass and there are people here to guide you throgh the perocess of what you need to do with the finish. Depends on if it's natural, oil satined or painted. / mats
 
welcome man, i'm sure you'll find an answer :D for help regarding the refinishing, there's a couple threads here 8)
 
I know the switch isnt active/passive, its a completely passive bass.

Heres the wiring diagram, if anyone can decipher an answer from it :

heres a pic of the damage (its a bit large, watch out 56k) its mostly just the top few layers are scratched and peeling off.
 
It definitely looks like a Series/Parallel switch. What effect does it have? Does the tone sound chunkier when you pull it up? Better clarity when pushed in? Or vice versa?
 
the only thing ive really noticed is that when its pulled up, it loses some fatness/bass.

i'll just assume its ser/par.
 
It looks like when its pulled up it's in Parallel, and when pushed in its in Series. Just contact Dana B Goods and they should be able to tell you for certain.
