Public Apology

I'm thrilled that the bass is now in safe hands, beginning it's journey to Reuel!

Well done to Jake for eventually parting with the bass.

Now Jake - here is the time that you have an opportunity to earn some forgiveness!

You have done the right thing when backed into a corner, but now that it's over, it's up to you to show us your true character by working to earn the shipping money, and paying it back.

I certainly don't want my donation back - but Jake - you should certainly be paying for the shipping.

Once you come up with the dough, you can pass the money on to Gman, who can then either forward it to Reuel as a small payment for all of the trauma you've put him through, or to a charity.

I'm looking forward to seeing your true character Jake, and I hope it's a good outcome.

I choose to believe that you'll do the right thing.

:)

IMO, forgiveness is not earned, it's given. Trust, however, is earned.

Also, I think that however much money we raise (I can't access my PayPal account till i get back to school Sunday night) should be matched by Jake and sent to Reuel for troubles/trauma/everything else. Unless we raise a ridiculous amount of money... then expecting him to match it might be crazy. But say we get $200 (or however much we have), the actual shipping fee should be paid by Jake to Reuel.

Just my opinion.

The whole situation stinks, I hope that the bass gets there and you enjoy it mate, shame on you jake, SHAME!

Because none of us have made mistakes...

Seiously, we want to think we are good people by picking up for one person yet we put another human being down for making a mistake. Jake doesn't need this. He didn't have to come on here and apologize. He could have simply emailed Reuel and sent the bass off. But he came here and another forum to apologize. We all make mistakes and no matter how bad, this is simply one of them.

Talk about how he only backed into a corner when the law showed it's head all you want, be he still didn't have to do what he did. Personally I wouldn't dream of ever doing what Jake did, BUT if I did, I certainly wouldn't feel welcomed here.

With that said, what he did was wrong and I agree with Eberbachl that Jake should find a way to pay the shipping whether it be to Gman (Giles) or charity. I just hope in time, we can all forgive Jake for what he did. I, for one, will never forget, but certainly can't hold this against him for eternity.

Just sayin...

Also, I am happy Incx gets his bass. I remember talking to him a while back in a thread I made about not getting my infinity yet due to ups being a-holes and he made his point then. I remember thinking how shitty it was but that he would probably get it in a couple of days, and that he was just stressing. Then a couple of weeks ago all this went down. I feel terrible that this went down and when I get some money in my pay pal, I WILL be contributing to this fund because Reuel deserves it. And I think that Reuel is a perfect example of a great guy. He had great patience when dealing with this. What a stand up cat. Cheers to you Reuel!

Edit: to allen1uk, I meant no disrespect, I just wanted to say this for a while and you happen to be the last one to post in regards to Jake (negatively). I'm sure you're a stand up guy as well, just wanted to say that is all. Cheers mate!

This is my 2 cents.

Shipping the bass with crappy padding would have been a mistake.
Forgetting to ship the bass for a short time would have been a mistake.
Sending it to the wrong address would have been a mistake.

This is beyond simple "mistake" -- this was attempted robbery. And I think had it not been for everyone pitching in, he would have gotten away with it.

I'm glad he's getting his bass, but the facts still remain.

Whateve's. We're all entitled to our own opinion. I'm just not going to change mine. Fact is, you're not doing anyone a favor ( incluing yourself) for holding such a grudge. Hell, it appears even Reuel is more understanding. However lets not forget putting ourselves in the others shoes. I think there's a chance I'd be less forgiving had it be me instead of Reuel. So I respect others opinion on this. That is my final stance on this as I have nothing else to add. Despite the fact I am defending Jake, I will say this, there is nothing worse in my mind than a liar or a theif.

Too me, what have happened is very important.

What is more important is how Jake will behave from now on.
I just hope he takes the lesson.

I'm glad you had the nuts to step up, Jake, but I'll never buy anything of you...

It was previously mentioned that forgiveness
is given, but trust hasta be earned. True enuf
but in my book, trust is earned from scratch,
from a nada, zip, zero neutral ground .... and
is seldom, if ever, re-earned from a less than
zero, down in the hole, negative score. IOW,
trust is, in that way, similar to virginity. It's a
one-shot session .... no retakes, no edits.

I spoze I should point out that I tend to give
"the benefit of the doubt" more than once or
twice. So in the event that anyone can finally
cost me my trust in them, there's no further
appeals, no pardons. If a bridge won't burn,
then it needs a little dynamite.

Internet forums like this only work if you can trust and believe what other people are saying. would you bother logging in if you thought everyone else was talking bull? Probably not.

End of the day the crime should match the punishment, guess its up to each of us to decide how we measure that.
