Hello Warwick Forum,

This is a public apology to all involved in this nightmare but especially to Reuel. Im sure most of you know what has happened. This is taking some balls for me to do so Im just going to say it.

Im so ashamed of what I was doing. I want to get this all put right and get the bass to Reuel as soon as I can and make amends. Im feeling so horrible,so disgusted with myself that it will be on my conscience for what feels like the rest of my life. I have been laying awake at night having that feeling in the pit of my stomach for a good few months and it really is the worst. I was just digging a massive whole for myself and its very hard to climb out once your in. I am deeply sorry about trying to conseal myself and shut myself off. Its mad what your brain tells you when your desperate! Cannot begin to imagine how Reuel has been feeling.

I cannot believe how strong this online community is and how willing the members are to help a fellow bass player. Really warms my heart to know you guys will always look out for one another.
I have given all my personal details to Rob(Shockwave Bass chat member) who is acting as some sort of intermediary and I am going to send the bass within 1 week or have a contact of one the Warwick forum admin to collect it personally. I want to thank all who have helped Reuel and to help me get this all back to how it should.

I hope this can be resolved with no hard feelings and I can be welcomed back into the community as its one of my favourite hobbies and really missed talking on basschat and the warwick bass forums. I hope these words sum up just how im feeling and we can put this behind us.

Eternally sorry

-Jake

Well done Jake.
It took guts to stand up & do this. While I dont condone what you did,I respect you for doing the right thing, finally.
I hope that I'm not alone in wanting to put all of this behind us once Reuel has his bass,& that this thread doesnt bring out the worst in people & have it deteriorate into a slanging match.
I'm so glad that the end of this is in sight & we can all get back to the important things in life,"bass gear baby".

What's this peice of crap... Pretty transparent as to who wrote this msg anyways....

It is nice that you are trying to make ammends but still you should give him also some sort of repayment for waiting these many MONTHS, not days in addition to HIS bass.

It takes courage in acknowledging your mistakes but in addition to the bass you need to restitute him some additioonal funds or something else for all the stress and time you wasted of him. Sorry if I am blunt but this deserves it.

no more words from me on this post. I will shut my mouth off for doing what you did to my Warwick brother (I have mentioned this before that I treat Warwick forumers as family).

I can promise you I will forgive you for doiung this to him but not forget.

This is a good start Jake. If your sentiments are genuine, I'm impressed.

The telling factor will be when Reuel receives his bass, and I hope that he does, and that this isn't simply another stalling tactic from you.

If you are genuine, well done for finding the balls to start to try and put things right.

I have to agree with T7.

I feel that there is 3 steps to making things right.

1.) Admitting your wrong and saying your sorry.

2.) Explaining why you did it so that all parties effected understanding why
the got what they did.

3.) Making it up to the ones who were harmed.

I feel that Jake has done steps 1 and probably 2 with IncX. But I don't
think that just giving IncX the bass would call it even and be a proper
make up. IncX has dealt with a lot because of this and apparently has
other crap going on in his personal life. I think that there should be more
than just hears the bass now lets pretend like it didn't happen.

Good that you did a public excuse.

BUT, kinda weird that you start to feel all bad and everything just when you know the police started to look for you. Kinda not what I would call "real" honesty. Anyway, the bass will be sent, I think that's what Reuel was looking for, and I guess it's good now. Sure a little something to excuse yourself won't hurt much. I really hope you've learned your lesson here because if it would have been me (and not such a nice dude like Reuel), you can bet your ass I would have done the worst I could to you (legally speaking of course).

You are one of us too Jake, and we made efforts to help Reuel, and to help you as well.
I cannot speak for Reuel, but for me, considering all the circumstances, having the bass and the public apologies would be enough to forgive.
Jake, just be sure Reuel has his bass, and as far as I am concerned, you are more than welcome here, like an old friend that has been lost, and found again.
Cheers, Flo

I'm glad to see that this has finally come to a close.

With all due respect to Reule, I'm not clapping my hands and patting backs 'right now'! When the bass is out of Jake's hands and into either Reule's or at the least a Warwick or Basschat member THEN I'll start dancing a jig for Reule.

'IF' we need/want to set up a fund to get he bass back to Reule, I'd be happy to handle a paypal account to collect the money (with any extra proceeds going to a charity) but it would make more sense for however is acting as the intermediary for Reule in the UK to possibly do that. Though I do think that Jake is not absolved from that debt and should be paying that to the collectee at the earliest possible time and then that could potentially be given to charity... just my thoughts.

I do have to feel very proud that the efforts of a bunch of bassists has forced this issue to the point where Jake has surfaced and started making the right moves. However, let this be a lesson to us all BUT let's not lose all trust of doing deals with other bassists (even in distant lands). :D

I'm also happy to stick in a tenner to get this bass to Reuel with the quickest courier service available.

This is a real good thing, i am glad to infinity! made this public apology but as Warwickhunt says, when the bass finally reaches Rueul and we can see the pic of him having it this thing will be put to an end.

I must say to to infinity!, this is a big step and it takes balls to do this (make the apology) i am glad you turned around and finally admitted this was not a polite thing to do. I guess this will be a lesson for you, so can we now finally go back to our farourite topic: Wawick Basses and the sound of wood?

It takes a man to stand up and admit when he is wrong and do what it takes to make it right. Your post whether genuine or motivated for other reason is a good start. You have publiclly admitted what you did. Now prove you're a man and get that bass in IncX's hand where it rightly belongs. Forgiveness is not even an option until that happens.

TRY! TRY HARD! Try Real Freakin' Hard. As you said, "I want to get this all put right.." Getting the bass to Reuel is the most important issue, and I'm sure Reuel will be happy at that. But if you really want to put all this right, you need to understand just how badly you hurt the man. On top of having to deal with your crap he's had personal problems to deal with. Do you think you can imagine having more stress dumped on you when you were already stressed out in the first place. Hell, I wasn't part of this and I can imagine how Reuel has been feeling. Perhaps you can't because you haven't really tried. So I say again, TRY!

Others have mentioned that you should consider some sort of compensation to Reuel in addition to getting his bass to him. Perhaps after you Try to imagine what he's been feeling, you might see that some sort of additional compensation is not really an unreasonable request. Cash is always cool, but whatever it is, it should be heartfelt. Something that shows you understand you hurt the man and you really want to put it right.

Forgiveness is a virtue. I cannot speak for anyone else, but once Reuel has his bass I will forgive you, for whatever that is worth. As to you being welcomed back to the forum, the final say is with the mods ofcoarse, but for me, I will follow Reuel's lead on that. If he's for you returning, I will support it. If he's for you never coming back, I will support that as well. But again, that's a decision for the mods.

Last word, no matter what the motivation, it did take alot of balls to stand up in public and admit what you did. I salute you for that.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

You're a wise man Florin.

+1 on the fund. As I have stated before, I would be more than happy to kick in, in anyway to help IncX get his bass. I like the fastest possible shipping option too. But I say, any extra $$$ collected should go to IncX for his pain and suffering. Hell, he can buy some new strings for the bass with the extra $$$.

It would take a big man to say that apology to Reuel's face once he has the bass.

Copying and pasting on a forum where no-one really knows you, once you've already been caught and the police are after you? I'm not so sure.

Jake has already proved himself to be a liar, a cheat, underhand and devious. Why should we believe him before there is any action.

There's also the matter that Jake is saying he can't afford to ship the bass. I have some ideas for this, but again if he was really sorry he'd be selling all his possessions to get this bass over to Reuel asap.

Here's my idea for shipping
I think there are 2 options here:
1. And my preferred option. Jake offers up something that is worth more than the shipping - as WH says maybe one of his basses/hifi/TV. This is then sold on ebay. Proceeds pay for shipping, the rest goes to Reuel. If Jake really is sorry he will have no problem with this.

2. Anyone who wants to chips in a nominal amount that they are prepared to lose (a tenner for me) and we send the bass. Jake hopefully pays this amount back quickly - this then goes to Reuel as compensation or charity

I also agree with WH, that an effort should be made to get this bass into the hands of a trusted member of BC/Warwick forum today.

Jake,

As I said in the other post, coming forward after so much time has passed with a "public apology" only when Johnny Law was about to come knocking on your door takes zero guts and zero balls. What would have shown that you were a real man would have been to give Reuel the Wick IMMEDIATELY upon receipt of payment, as promised, or IMMEDIATELY refund him his money when you decided to keep the bass.

As for crying "poverty" when asked to pay for the shipping costs to send Reuel his Wick... shameful. Go work at a convenience store or a McDonalds or scrubbing toilets if you have to in order to earn the money to ship the bass. Sell some of the $5,000+ worth of gear that you own. Better yet, sell whatever you bought with Reuel's money and use THAT money to pay shipping. While I feel legal action would have been very justified, I think that a man losing his reputation is possibly worse punishment than any stint in jail or community service you might have received.

Suck it up, pump up your nuts, and send the man his bass.
