New Pickup in Streamer STD

I'm ripping out the stock MEC and i'm going to drop in one of the bartolini replacements.

My streamer is the singe pickup model, so what would suit best, a neck or bridge pickup?

If its any help i was using this bass before with the volume nob pulled up (is that series or parallel?) mostly using a pick for a metal/ hardcore tone, lots of punch and a bit of grit pushed through a tech21 sansamp into my SVT-3 pro.

Somewhere on Bartolini's website there should be a place with the exact specs and measurements of the pickups. You'll see there which one fits

If you're asking a tone question when you
ask whether to use a neck or a bridge PU,
then if it's grit you want, go for the neck
PU. I don't really know if Bart actually has
different windings, neck and bridge. Your
question implies there's a difference, so
assuming there IS one, they would hafta
wind a hotter PU for the neck position to
counter the woofy-boomy tone derived by
putting any PU in the neck location. And
vice versa: No need for Bart [or anyone]
to wind any extra hotitude into a specific
bridge PU, cuz that location alone always
produces a hot tone, from any PU.

I always thought "hot" means an overwound pickup with more output and less brightness. Did you mean "brighter"?

Yup. Brighter. Like with the sunshine, I equate
brighter with hotter and use the words together.

If this is counter to accepted meanings for bass
discussions, I'd gladly switch to whatever choice
of words is best understood.

What I think you are calling "hotter" is what I'd
call "darker". But OTOH .... I can also see "hot"
and "dark" used together .... to describe a really
deeeep, rich, thick tone.

Is there a standard glossary ? I just wanna write
understandably. I'll use whatever terms everyone
else understands, if I can know what they are ! ?

On topic: I have made a pickup of two Basslines SCPB-3 PUs. After a while I happened to put the original MEC back and liked it more.
