Yesterday I found THE bass I've been wanting for over a year, for $1299 at Guitar Center in Nashua NH....pics coming real soon.

I recently got married and we received a fair amount of cash in lieu of gifts, so this was a wedding gift..LOL!

This brings my Corvette collection up to 3!

what type it was? active? passive? $$ or standard? 4 or 5 strings? bubinga, ash?

pics?

by the way congratulations on the bass and the wedding too.

here's a pic...

was it a mispricing like the Bubinga Corvette Standard 5 I found at GC boston last week?

The thing was makred down by HUNDREDS, by ACCIDENT! I felt like I robbed the place!

The GC in dayton, Oh has a 5 string corvette $$ for $1340. Its black. Tried to talk the wife into both basses but she thought that 1 new bass was enough. Oh well.

Down here in Cincy, I got my (just now sold) thumb BO 5er for $1400... something must have been wrong with that haha.

i gt mine for 1350 in 2006, oh yea and GC had a labor day weekend sale this weekend that could be why

that is 'teh secks.'

I'm looking at those Ash NT 'Vettes, very very closely as of now... drooling too.

=]]

Methinks the Thumb'll have to wait!

the eq can be a little "cumbersome and weird/foreign) on a $$ for people who aren't used to it, you definitely have to futz with it in order to unleash the awesome powers of the $$ muahh hahahahah

paperbag1213>>>I'd love to hear some suggestions. I especially haven't got a clue about the 3-way toggle switches!

ha ha...I kinda felt the same way. I walked very quickly to the car with it and got outta there before anyone noticed!

great prices. congrats everyone. Everyone but me is getting new basses.

Nice score, $$ are great!

As for the switches and stuff just fiddle and experiment with different things is the best way. I forget when coil taps each have but i know the tones i get from different positions, well besides having the switches in center position as thats single coil mode.

From the manual (should have looked there first!):

When the switch is in the up position the neck / bridge pick-up is humbucking and routed in series.

When the switch is in the middle position the neck / bridge pick-up is single coil and both routed as humcanceling with each other single coil.

When the switch is in the down position the neck / bridge pick-up is humbucking and routed in parallel.

---just thought I'd share this moment of clarity---

My new Vette $$5 when i bought it I orderd natural and it looks awesome. For me it is the best finish out there. If you add golden hardware will end up looking like mine did on the Corvette Club.
here:

Do not forget to post pics there too.

Congratulations on both counts Gastrok, what a fantastic wedding present for yourself. :D

Cheers,
