Need a Warwick expert

I am thinking of buying a used Warwick tomorrow but this one seems to be more than what owner thinks. So here goes its a 2000 Corvette flame maple fret board back of neck dark wood and body is opposite dark front maple back it has a buck and jazz pick up and 4 pots. The truss cover says Warwick The sound of wood. I can not find one like it anywhere and I've looked at thousands of pics. I am desperate for any and all knowledge. Thanks a ton !
 
Sounds similar to the Guitar Center anniversary bass, which I'm fairly sure came out in 2000. It had the JazzMan pickup configuration; an ash body with a bubinga top; and an ovangkol neck with a maple fretboard. It would be tough to know for sure unless you have a picture...
 
Thanks for the Welcome. I think he bought at GC so I'm thinking your right. Any clue what its worth if thats what it is ? Will try and load pics but have not figured that out yet. Thanks again
 
I found some pics. Thats definitely what its is. Well I am going to buy it regardless of what its worth cause I love it. The bass an ampeg svt 350 and mesa boogie 2x15 cab for a $1000. Think its a good deal. Thanks much !

She's home. What a beauty she is to. Heres her story..... The previous owner bought it all brand new at GC 8 years ago. This stuff never left the house and literally is a 9.5 out of 10 . He was left handed so he put a strap lock on bottom to flip it but keep the strings normal( do not know how but he played that way) This thing has the original strings on it and they are clean. A lil dead thou. The head and cab OMG are the clean. Head one scratch you can barely see and the cab you would think I bought it brand new today. Not very fond of the head so I will be selling it but the cab sounds great with the Trace. Thanks for all the comments............ Pics will be up tomorrow.Oh yeh and a brand new skb hard shell to top it off. Totally Freekin Awesome.. I'm 39 but feel like a 12 year old that touched his first boobie..........LMAO
 
First of all a warm welcome to the forum. :d

Congratulations (I think)... that does sound like a bit of a 'steal'. I realise that Ampeg and Mesa equipment is cheaper in the States than Europe but bass, amp and cab all of excellent quality, any single piece which would have been expensive to buy, all for $1000! The seller must have really been down on his luck.

Anyone know where I can get a tool kit and wax? Checked GC and Mf online and no luck.Also any string recommendations had an SIT endorse years ago and thats what I used but time to change.

Welcome aboard.

Some Wicks that look like waxed wood are really
oil finished, which never needs waxing. If it has
gone 8 yrs in storage without waxing and is now
looking really dried out ... then for sure it's one
that needs wax.

But if it looks fine right now, I can't tell you if
thaz just from fortunate storage conditions or if
it's really an oil finish. Removing the neck may
[or may not] show you tell-tale signs of an oil
finish. Surely someone on the forum will know,
and I suggest you post the question in it's own
thread. Unless it's looking seriously dried out, I
would refrain from waxing it til you know which
finish you have !

The allen wrenches you can get in a hardware
store. The sizes are listed in the user manual
which is online at Warwick as a pdf. The neck
wrench I'm pretty sure is a 5mm and I would
suggest a nice tee-handled allen wrench with
the longest shaft possible. Spray some WD40
or similar lube into the truss rod adjusting nut,
cuz it has sat for 8 yrs ... even if it moves OK.
BTW, it's a dual action truss rod.

Thanks for info Golem. Yeh I don't know about the wood yet other than ash and bubinga top. Its not dry but has a waxy build up I'd like to remove and put a lighter coat on. Especially the neck. The truss cover has never been removed other than me inspecting to make sure it wasn't stripped so i will definitely spray it.
 
Congratulations on the buy - that's one hell of a deal! So good I hope the guy was genuine and it didn't "fall off the back of a truck"!
