My new bubinga corvette

Yesterday I picked up my new corvette which i won on ebay :D

Its a 96 model with wenge neck, bubinga body, passive electronics no crackling all great condition. Amazing grain of wood no dings and been waxed regularly, and the guy gave me some wax, a 4 inch leather strap and staplocks :D...also to my surprise it has a proline tag on headstock and has the proline pickups (the Passive MEC "Dynamic Correction" pickups).

It has some fret wear on the first few frets, but the rest are really good condition and a slightly lose input jack (ie the lead can slip out if pulled). All in all i'm very happy with it, strung it with EMP's today and gonna be working on setup just tweaking the nut and bridge as the neck is setup really nice.

I'll post some pictures later today i promise (i know i've not posted any pics of any basses but this time i really will, I may as well get some of my $$ while i'm at it as well)

I will try, if i post these pics then i'm gonna need to post a load more cookies though...its a trade i guess.....i'm just uploading them atm to photo bucket i'll post as soon as they are done :D

nice one mate. the wood on the bubinga vette is certainly very nice :)
 
i'm confused as to how that's a proline... the only prolines i've seen that weren't flamed maple were ash, and they we're 89-91, i think. is the truss rod cover just switched out? I also thought the Dynamic Correction MECs were the standard passive electronics until recently.

I don't have a clue about when pickups were used so you could be right. I thought i was just a truss rod switched until i looked at the specs of the proline. Maybe someone in the know can fully confirm this.

it looks like you've got some wavy Pommele going on in that Bubinga..........Very nice basses man. :D
 
Unless 96' was different; The only thing "proline" about the bubinga corvette is the truss rod cover.

I'd upgrade the noisy passive single coils with active MEC's, or EMGs and a nice active preamp.
Or passive barts and an active preamp.
 
That's no Proline I'm afraid.Prolines have a flamed maple body & MEC active pickups & gold hardware.

yeh thats what i though, tbh it doesn't matter i love this bass to bits.

When i get some more cash i was planning on putting in a Aguilar preamp, might get some barts but i really like the tone of the thing atm, so its tempting to just to a quick 2 vol 2 tone thing going on with a stack control pot.

oh yeh and definitely upgrade to gold hardware as it really goes well with the grain of the bubinga.

I like the tone of my 97 as well, although I may put some passive EMG's in it eventually. NIce one there Evil...
