My future bass... (non-warwick content...)

Some of you know that i'm getting a monter built :
A Knuckle Quake 8-string octave down 39.55"-scale bass...
I just gotten those profiles from the luthier...




Maybe not very exiting to you guys, buy I'm quite happy to see this project one step closer to completion...

Right now, my bass is still at this stage:



And here is my latest mock-up:



This is going to be quite a beast... the "E" string pair is going to be .195 and .100 gauges... :twisted:

Anyhow, sorry for this interruption in you regular Warwick programming, please carry on...
 
you're a madman!! those are sweet looking basses. I like the headstock. I don't think I could tackle that sort of scale, but I bet it sounds amazing.
 
Do not hesitate to show us cool stuff.................cuz we like cool stuff. 8)

I have to apologize JanVanHove, but I just dont see any appeal to the design of that bass. I looked at the Knuckle webiste and the designs do not inspire me or capture my attention. Then again, taste is a personal preference. Good luck with your monster bass!
 
Love the concept and the body, the headstock on the other hand... But I can't wait to get a review of you!

That's carbon fiber... Knuckles have strips of it between the pieces of the neck to make them stiffer... The visual result is pretty muck like the black veneers between the laminations of the necks on some Warwick basses...

And boston asphalt, don't worry, tastes are very personal, and the thing that captivates me about the knuckles is the fact that they are no-frills hotrods...

I'll keep you all posted as the building progresses over the next few months...

Speaking of graphite... i played some moduluses today... im not a big fan, but the necks are really cool looking!
 
The bass looks nice and it looks like it's going to be incredible sounding, my only concern is the headstock, not really appealing to my taste.
 
I dont care what it looks like,that bass is going to be a complete madman.Just let me know before you plug it in & turn it up Jan,I already have tinnitus mate. :)
 
Don't worry too much, I don't have a rig of doom to plug that beast in, so you shouldn't normally be able to feel the shaking from the other side of the planet...

I've been looking at Cerwin-Vega horn subs, though, and those should do the trick nicely... :twisted:
 
Basson cabs are supposed to be quite good for extended range,they're pretty darn cheap & made in the USA.They have a very low frequency response down to 28 hz.
 
Not a fan of Cerwin Vega anything personally. They're not very highly regarded here in North America. I find them to sound about as good as Peavey, another entry level manufacturer.
