I can't believe that the EMP's are dead after six months.
my old Roto's would die maybe in the 5-6 month area.

I'm coming up on around five months on the EMP's now. still plenty of stretch left in them. nowhere near dead. I think you just need to clean them up some maybe! there still life in them strings.
 
I haven't even put my Christmas Competition EMPs on yet!

My old EMPs are around 12 months old, and still sounding great!

I have some EMP's that've been on 2 basses & still sound new after many months & many hours of play time.Not almost new,or slightly used,but brand new.
We have to remember that the acid from some people's skin kills strings quicker than other's,regardless of coating.

Also everyones perception of when a strong stops sounding "new" is different :)

Dunno if it changes something, but I play between 1 and 2 hours daily and have only 2 basses. Normally, I changed my black labels every month or 2.

When I received my new $$, it came strung with EMP's, and a spare set. After 2 months of playing the bass everyday for about 2 hours, the E string has gone dead. The other 3 strings are ok still, but I obviously need to change these. I did not like the feel/playability of these strings, and I will try and trade my spare set of EMP's for some rotosounds.

Most likely the "E" string you had on it originally had been there for quite some time.. like basses at GC here in the USA... all their strings are dead from all the guys that just go there to play the axes and never buy them.

I used to use Rotos but they were too harsh on my fingers and did not last as much as my EMPs. I would suggest you to put those new EMPs and see how long they last you ;)

Hey Trujo,
My new bass was sent to me in the box that Warwick shipped it in, and it was unopened. Those strings must have been on the bass some time for them to go dead after a couple months use. I have tried to trade the EMPs to one of my local music shops (which are limited here), and they would only trade them for one set of rotos. They obviously dont know about these strings, and arent aware that they retail for almost twice the price as the rotos. Anyways, I have destringed, waxed the bass, and installed the new EMP strings, and the bass sounds and looks great. Thanks for the tip.

if you like the roto's then the EMP's are just the next logical step up for your sound. I was a die hard roto man of 20+ years. took the emp dare, no turning back now.
 
We will see... Still a die hard RotoSound fan, but have a set of EMP's coming courtesy of Florin and Warwick (thank you), so I will string my 5er with them and see what we see. I agree that Roto's don't last very long, but I have yet to find a string I like as much as a brand new set of RotoSounds and just cant believe that a set of coated strings are gonna change my mind.
