Mother of Pearl Truss Rod Cover

Hi,

I have one bass with a MOP Trussrod cover.
I have seen this only on the 5th Anni and a bass from the Scorpions bass player - Francis Buchholz

Was this a vintage custom indicator or option?

Anyone who has a bass with one of these?

I don't have a bass with that kind of truss rod cover, and I've never seen one like it before, either. However, the non-adjustable brass nut and the straight (not angled-back) tuners mean it's likely a really early one. Is it a Streamer (that would be my guess).

- US Cherry Wood Body
- Ebony Fingerboard
- Oval Inlays...

And it was worked by hand by Hans Peter Wilfer - himself

Are you sure about the cherry? The wood does not seem very cherryish to me

Yes, we used this cover for this bass, and a few more special ones
The details came from Hans Peter Wilfer, but I agree, it doesn't look like cherry. Is it Afzelia?

I think so but it is hard to tell for sure

Take a peek at the wood under the bridge or tail piece where it's unfinished & free of dirt & wear.I agree,it looks more like afzelia than cherry,but they used cherry on the original Streamers early on yes?

I own 4 cherry streamers and the grain is entirely different.

But I cannot 100% confirm that is azfelia even though it looks like azfelia

did you compare the weight of your custom streamer to the weight of a cherry streamer and an afzelia one ?

by the way:
how does the cherry streamer sound compared to a normal SSII ??
i'm very curious....

the custom jj is a little heavier than my cherry ones but has leiss weight
than all the Stage 2s I have played.

I do not have a "regular" wenge stage 2 any longer so I cannot A/B the basses.
