List of Warwick problems I've had so far...

Considering over the last 25 years Warwick has built & sold more than 100,000 instruments, that's not small numbers. There are bound to be unsatisfied customers for a plethora of reasons.
The warranty on Warwicks is 2 years & as we all know,Warwick also cover basses bought used,if you ask nicely. If you have ANY problems & you bought new?Visit the dealer you bought off.Still not satisfied?change dealers. If you bought used & have problems,Call your countries distributor & you might find the parts you need sent free of charge.
I cant comment on the original posters troubles coz I dont know what has caused these problems.
My personal experience with owning Warwick has been positive. My JAN2's tab snapped & received 2 free replacements & a set of EMP's & a calendar. You gotta admit, not many companies look after their customers like Warwick does.

Ohhhhh yeah,

totally agree on this one. As a matter of fact, my personal opinion and experience is that Warwick is NUMBER 1 when it comes to customer service. :D

Yeah they are overated, just like tuning pegs hahahaha

lol yeah :D i still don't understand how can a tuning peg be that loose, and turn using the screw as a fulcrum (we're talking about a 4-5mm movement)..maybe the hole in the headstock is too big? :D

It might be missing it's insert.
*edit.it's normal for a tuner to have a little free play.

When I first restrung the RB Fortress the tuners were a little loose. It happens all the time with that style of tuner, Grover, Gotoh etc. You just tighten that big nut on the front of the tuner, takes about 5 seconds per tuner.

Mush did you say you gave the trussrod a full turn?
Im pretty sure the manual says only to go in one 8th increments, and that you should never turn it more than a quarter increment in either direction
of the starting point.

Yeah I agree the Just A Nut 2 breaks easily but Warwick have adressed this with the Just A Nut 3. I too hope it is an improvement.

Straplocks, this one has been talked about a lot here, after a lot of researching ( someone may already have said these things but this is just my take ) The main problem with the straplocks is that the ball bearings of the insert pin are made of a harder metal than receiver ( part screwed to the bass ). They wear away the inside wall of the reciever and eventually leave surprisingly large grooves.
You can use an old pin with a new receiver but not vice versa.
I would suggest that the Receiver should be made of a harder metal as it would be much easier to replace the pin each time.

The other problem is the screw that holds the receiver in the bass uperhorn is also made of a very soft metal. I have yet to find a screwdriver that does not sheer the philips head of the screw. I also found that by using a slightly longer stainless steel screw i acheived a sturdier result. ( Drilling into my bass with a wood bit wasnt fun though)

Other than that ive never had any problems, I gig my thumb NT 5 a lot and ive always been impressed with the punishment it has withstood in the back of equipment trucks, trailers, planes and climate changes.
I think a big problem is that though some people have taken good care of their warwicks, previous owners may not, but ive always bought mine new.

Lastly i dont see too many other bass companies providing a forum as great as this, it is awesome the way the company has gone out of its way to listen to its customers in order to improve its products by their needs, im very thankful for Olly and Florin for being so helpful too! :D

Well, actually...

The tuners on my SS1 and Vette$$ are not tight at all. Both the pegs and the complete housing is not tight. When stringed up, there's no prob at all!

Are you saying that unstrung you can wiggle the peg and key? Or that the tuning machine is loose in the headboard? If the tuner is loose in the head then tightening that retaining nut on the front will do the trick, if the peg and key are loose unstrung, but tighten up when strung, that seems to be normal for this style of tuner. My RB does it, so does my Washburn Stage Bass and Thunderbird. The only 2 basses I've had that don't are the Ric and MM SUB. And they both have monster open gear tuners.

On my vette and SS1 as well.

I can wiggle the peg and the complete machinehead when the bass is un-strung. I usually never have to tune my bass after I breaked in new strings. I'm amazed how they they keep in tune.

My B string is terrible at staying tuned. The rest of em though... could run that thing over and itd still be in tune...

No, Its been this way with two sets of Foderas and two sets of D'addarios.

The only real problem with Warwick basses is that they are addictive !

A Big +1 to that!!!

The only mechanical problem was a bad input jack on my '03 fretless - thanks to Guitar Center display abuse. Easily replaced with a Switchcraft. 8)

All my JAN 2s have been fine, but replaced anyway with JAN 3s, for free, thanks to Tyler at Dana B. Goods!

Lovin' the experience after 6-months and going strong!
