List of Warwick problems I've had so far...

-Just-a-nut snapped on side
-Frets dented after one month
-Screws in saddle broken/unresponsive
-Pickup near bridge constanly comes loose
-Tuning machine broke (had to replace w/ one of better quality off of a $300 Ibanez bass)
-Strap locks grinded down on inside after two months and need to be replaced.
Now I just recently attempted to adjust the truss rod and after hearing several nasty cracking noises on the inside of the neck, didnt seem to notice any difference after a full turn. I am sick of dealing with all these problems from a $1600 instrument that is less than a year old. I had many of these same problems from a previous Warwick. I love them to death, but all of this crap seriosly makes me not even feel like playing it as I almost dont even feel like I own a quality instrument. I also take excellent care of them which is why this is all the more frustrating. I wish I would have had a better "Warwick Experience".
 
If I am correct all Warwicks have lifetime warrantys, so I would talk to your distributor about having it sent in for repairs. I've notcied that many dealers mistreat Warwicks, which may also have been the source of your problem.
 
The problems I had:

- Just-a-nut snapped on side
- Tuning machine broke on my Thumb BO (G-string)
- MEC knobs lame: there is no defined indentation on my two Thumb NTs
- MEC cavity cover on my Thumb 4 NT needs a screw driver.

The JAN2 problem is a known problem, and is solved wonderfully by Warwick. This is the first time I read about another tuning machine going poof. Just tough luck ?? The MEC hardware problem, well, I think I'm one of the very few people who thinks MEC hardware is not soo good................The rest of the bass is ace. There is no substitute for my Thumb NT.........

JAN2 wings snapped. Fixed with JAN3. Other than that .. no prob!
 
i had a faulty straplock (swapped with another one), JAN2 wings snapped on my first $$ and a tuning machine is a bit shaky with no string on..but nothing major in 3 years and 3 warwicks :D
 
Yeah my A string tuning peg is loose when no strings are on it...

And my stack knobs could use some work. Also, Jan 2 problem, but ive only lost one wing so Im still to lazy to replace it.

Hm... I am a heavy touring musician, I have 10- 20 gigs/ month, and only one bass. I never had a backup, I don't feel like I need one. My bass travels in a truck, and it is not very gentle handled. I play hard, and I don't take care of my bass very well.

I've had normal problems for this kind of usage... nothing more... I guess you had back luck with your basses... Sorry to hear that, I hope your bad luck is over :-)

You said a mouthful Doc. I can't tell you all how much time I used to spend at GC and Sam Ash setting up and maintaining the Warwicks that are damaged by store personel and customers. I used to think, damn, how many of these would come back or not sell if I didn't do this? I've seen Jazzman basses still in the store with twisted necks and others with bad input jacks and missing knobs most of which I blame on the store. No company is perfect but my basses have fallen and been slept on several times and I'm good. It's an imperfect world anyway but I feel safer with Warwick basses. Even my Audi acts up once in a while. :wink:
 
Yeah, I cant stand the way they treat their basses... really pisses me off.

I didnt know you were in Orange NJ gerry... Im right in Jersey City! Im going to a concert in orange in October or November in Orange...

Volkswagen dosnt have the best electricians ethier...

My Dads VW Bus ('70) made it to Alaska and back... only problem was a few electrical fires...

When I asked him about the seatbelts he told that he didnt think they ever worked hahahah.

That's what he's saying..............things that are not important................seat belts.......... :lol:
 
I've snapped one wing on my jan 2 on both basses, and replace the strap locks. That's it.

Other than that I only lowered my pick ups to stop the humbuckers distorting so much in that $$ fashion.
