I shouldnt have picked up that Corvette 5 w/ active pickups

I tried a Corvette 5 string with active electronics and bubinga body today and I must say, it really give my thumb a run for the money. I really wish I hadnt touched it because now Im jonesin to pick it up, and if I do so, I will be cutting into my CS savings fund.

YOou know, Ive always wanted a bibinga corvette w/ soapbars. I ahve the Hot Rdo 5 string with dual soapbars and I want to hear the bubinga with that configuration...or manybe a maplye top and a bubinga body...hrmmm

if you really like the sound of the Corvette 5, you may consider to sell the Thumb to buy a used Corvette 5, it may make some money.

I had hear the Corvette sound(non bubinga), it sounds good, I had try some Corvette with old strings, it is fine, the Corvette bass is the most popular bass in the forum, I don't why! maybe the forum bass should be changed to Corvette.

I tried $$, I like the power. it could save times to turn loud the amp....haha!

I personally won't sell the Thumb bass to buy a Corvette!

The Corvette bass is also the most stocked bass in the stores where I live - Although you can occasionally see a Thumb or Fortress

That's probably because the corvette is the cheapest, but is such good value for money because it's so good.

I could be quite happy with the Corvette Bubinga Std... but IMO it's in the same sonic ball park as the Thumb BO... so it's a bit of a wasted opportunity to have both... you could save the money and spend on that CS bass!

yeah, I think Im gonna not get that corvette, but damn it is a sick instrument. I wont ever sell my LTD Warwick basses, and the only way I can see getting that Corvette would be to get rid of something redundant, and since none of the LTDs are a redundancy to the corvette, it would mean the Thumb ahs to go. Unfortunately, the Thumb is my workhorse and is the bass I will be playing when I am on stage, ripping out metal tunes and having girls drool all over me! 8)

Man, you know, I've owned two Corvettes in the past and they were GREAT basses. The only thing that annoys me with the Vette is it's "dildo-shaped" upper horn, otherwise I'd love to get a $$ neck thru...

My guess: Hard Core Baptist Fundamentalists??? I'm kinda one of those myself, but we don't have nuns (maybe the C stands for "Catholic"?), and I wasn't offended - even got a chuckle :lol:

As for selling the Thumb - I just got my Thumb NT and will NEVER part with it! I love my Bubinga Corvette fretless' and my Ash Corvette $$ 5 to death, but the Thumb NT is THE BOMB!

It's amazing what people see in things. I know a lot have made that call about the Corvettes - especially on other bass forums, but I just don't see it that way; to me, the 'Vette is a sleek, sporty looking instrument, streamlined like the race car it's named after...

I still think the Thumb is sexier, with its smaller, rounder, bass-like shape, but for a taller bodied instrument, the Corvette is awesome as an instrument, not a sex toy! :lol:

But next on my list: Maple Streamer with vintage soapbars or a P/J setup to replace my Jazz as the old-skool funk machine...
