Hipshot question

I tryed to put a hipshot D tuner on the 96 corvette I picked up last week.
It would not work as the lever hits the G string machine head when I try to detune the E string. I haven't measured the head stock yet but it appears to be smaller then the fortress head stock as the hipshot works great on the fortress....
so is hipshot the only company making these things???
 
i have one on mine, it may be the difference in years (different year, different headstock size). i have an 06 corvette and it works fine, only goes down to D though.
 
Yeah, Hipshot is the only company and choice for these. If the headstock is smaller, then there may not be a solution. I'll have to remember to buy only later model Warwicks then, as I need the D-Tuner on my 4-strings. Maybe I will only buy older models in 5-string...
 
OK thanks for your answers. I will measure the head when I get a chance. at first sight the 96 corvette head does not appear to look smaller. but I have not done a side by side profile next to my 97 fortress.
so I will check both. you wouldn't think that there would be any difference in one year, but who knows!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Dimentions can change between models,but only very slightly.I remember someone saying they did a hardware swap on an Infinity SN & the headstock was slightly thinner so the tuners needed a little "packing" under the screws to take up the slack.
 
OK,, I did a side by side between the fortress and the vette. the head stocks are the same in every way that I can see and measure.

So I guess next I will do a side by side of the Hipshot tuners and see if there are any differences.
the hipshot that I'm trying to install was given to me. but it is the same model as the one on my fortress. the only difference between the two is the one that was given to me is an older model so maybe there are some differences with the age of it.
the one on my fortress is about 6 months old.
the one that was given to me is about 4 years old. so I'll check it out.
 
Let us know how those Hipshots compare - it would be good info to know if older models are larger and causing problems installing on Warwick headstocks...
