Hi Guys,

So I asked Sascha in my knees to sell to me a Spectorhead Streamer

The main reason is that my white XBASS is very heavy, so I would need a lighter one. This one is 3 kilos and something, really light.

And now it is even lighter, because it will miss a pickup, two pots, the electronics, and the battery :-)

In a couple of days I should have it ready :-)

So I asked for
- Surf green finish
- Switching the P pickup position from Reversed P into standard Pbass position
- filing the J pickup hole with hard wood
- refret with original Warwick frets
- Seymour Duncan Quarter pound P pickup
- Passive electronics T and V,
- 2 pots covered.

What do you think ?

Hm... don`t know. A stock Fender would be about the the same and there would be no need to convert such a piece of Warwick history...
 
Flo you're crazy! I thought it looked superb in natural but you do what you want with your bass :d Also about the pickup mod: you ARE crazy! :lol:
 
I agree with Oli! couldnt you chop up something replaceable?

will still be the best P-bass in the world....but you buy it with a spectorhead streamer.
 
This is the Warwick equivalent of Flea putting a sticker on a one-of-a-kind Shell Pink Fender Jazz Bass. Too late now.

Surely the custom shop would have some sort of Flo discount. There was no need to destroy something so historic. Heck, if you started a thread saying "if you don't give me money for a custom shop I'm going to defile a spectorhead Streamer" you'd probably make $10,000 on top of the custom shop bass.

Did Sascha know you were going to do this? I'm surprised he'd let you.

But other than that, pretty cool!!! :D :P

EDIT: What did you use to fill the pickup and pot holes? Wood from a Stradivarius violin you scrapped for this project? Did you replace the nut with one made of unicorn ivory?

Wow, I don't even know if I'm being serious or sarcastic at this point :O

Don't let them tell you you're mad Flo, make this bass your own!
Basses are INSTRUMENTS not FURNITURE. The bass will have more rock&roll vibez then it ever had before...
 
If Flo has the freedom to do that kind of mod to an unique Warwick and show us pics, I have the freedom to call him mad, with all respect to Flo and his mental health status. :D

That´s the beauty of freedom of speech.
 
Actually Marco nailed it :-)

I need a lighter version of my Xbass, so I really need a lightweight bass, with the P bass in the same position as Xbass (I am using the neck pickup only)

Fender P is nice, but no Brass fretz, no Wenge neck, and no 3 kilos.

I bought that bass, took it to rehearsals, and TBH I was not very happy with the sound, and I blame the very hot EMG pickup, and the pickup position. Because it is reversed, the sound tends to be more articulated and growly, less rock and roll.

I don't treat instruments as collectible items or furniture. This bass is an amazing bass, and now it will probably perfect for my needs.

Also it will match the green strap :-)
 
I would kill to have the bass in original form. I think more so than anything getting a non paddle head may have been what I would have done. Either way man it's your bass and it's gonna be one of a kind for sure. Keep us posted!

It was filled with wenge and Mahagony.
 
Crazy but great:) Like it! Although a CS could have been great too. Maybe Warwick will follow?
 
As we talk already, Lovely! (But really I don't think I would have the guts to do this to one of my vintage warwicks ;) )
 
this is great! i would do the same but not on a spectorhead streamer, 86/87 had been my base for a mod something like this.
the idea/mod overall is awesome.

it reminds of my custom shop mod, which i did the opposite this spring:
from 2 to 4 knob layout , 2 to 3band preamp such as from a funky yellow to gentle black finish. but at least we both have the lacquer to the 24th fret:)

tell me flo how about the neck, is it naked or do you have that funky green finsh on it?

like i said i either woudn't have the balls to do this with a spectorhead.
but don't be mad guys, we're just updating some oldies to awesomeness:)
