Fitting a Warwick Infinity with Kahler Bass Tremelo

Hi, don't know really where to post this so ill try the general section, im contemplating having a Kahler Bass Tremolo fitted to my Warwick Infinity, pictured below:








I'm just wondering if 1st anyone could give me a couple of sources for as to where i could buy a tremolo and secondly whether the bass tremolo would fit in the route between the tail piece and the saddles, or would it have to be placed further forward and the route filled in.

My guess is that there would be a lot of filling up holes and re-routing present surfaces involved...

If it were my infinity, I wouldn't comtemplate something like that, you're gonna deface that nice flamed maple... :(
 
NOOOOOO! Please... there is just one way to do it right: order a new CS.
 
Dont really have the money to fund a custom shop unfortunatly, so would really appreciate help as to the subject of customizing this bass and if anyone could create a mock up aswell it would be greatly appreciated.

Also considering incorporating a second jack socket with stereo output to implement a rick-o-sound option for the bass
 
I put a Kahler on my $$ Corvette:

But I have two cautions. First, I was informed by J. at Wammi World that the 4-string Kahlers, which use only 2 springs, have a hard time staying in tune. That's why mine is a 6-string unit, with 3 springs, set up for my 5-string bass.

Second, it is very hard to find a qualified luthier locally who can route your bass properly, and that will be quite a job given the bevels on the Infinity. You may have to send your bass out to be done. I was fortunate to find a shop where I live. Back 10-20 years ago, there were guitar repair shops all over, now there's only a few and most not qualified IMO.

I really wouldn't want to see you mess up that beautiful instrument you have there. A black Kahler would look nice IF it was factory installed from the Custom Shop. As you might know, my $$ ended up having a fill in that didn't look good, hence the chrome automotive molding strip placed at the butt of the Kahler to try and make it look decent...

Also thanks to maddrakkett for his information, how did you go about ordering the 6 string set up for a 5 string and further to your advice am i to take it you would recommend a 5 string bridge set up for a 4 string?

Any more information appreciated

Well the 6-to-5 setup was actually J's recommendation at Wammi World. I would not have known about it, but he's good to look after his customers. He called me on my cell phone after I placed my order. You could call him at 951-541-2387 and see what he recommends for a 4-string. From what he told me, the 5 string tremolos still use only two springs, so it wouldn't really work for your situation and it would look too big and clunky on the Infinity.

I think what J told me is that a 4-string bridge will do better on a 4-string bass than a 5-string bridge will do on a 5-string bass, simply because the 4 has one less string against the 2 springs. That's why he suggested the 3-spring 6 string tremolo for my $$...

I would call him and see what he suggests for your bass.
