"entry level" Nobby, anyone interested?

A simpler, cheaper Nobby, would you buy it?

It would be a cool little bass with loads of personality, now wouldn't it?

And if it ends up in "normal" production, then we an have lefties and fretlesses, and go to the CS to have a $$ nobby, for instance!

But I was wondering... The J/TJ pickups would bring up the price a bit on an entry-level bass, maybe it should be a P/J configuration like the original nobby?

I own a steinberger bass too (well I am not sure where it is actually) but it is really nice to have a little bass like this. Small, light, and great sound. And really different on the stage.

About the pickups... why not JJ, will be even cheaper, and you cannot go wrong with JJ.
 
ok, my overall "potential" nobby. black ash, ovangkol and wenge, (i'm assuming thats the original plan). PASSIVE twin jazz (bridge) p (neck) and an active eq (3 band, but i can settle for 2)

As Florin said, the JJ is the "cheapest" pickup config, so maybe it should be the way the Basic Nobby should be, and you can always go through the custom shop for a different config... I'm thinking $$ would be an amazing configuration for a portable bass like a nobby: all the different sonic possibilities plus a full blown $$...

But first, Warwick has to make a Nobby BO...

that would be even better actually! i'm thinking this would be more a studio musicians friend than a "cheap warwick." i understand thats the point, but if it can be done for under a 1000, i think the job would be well done.
 
well "cheap" is maybe not the best word... "affordable" might be a better choice, since no Warwick is "cheap"...

The NT vettes were on the threads long before they were produced. If the thread actually helped push the idea I don't know. Bet we were asking for a NT Vette on the forum before they were made. Maybe the same thing will happen this time...

that makes sense....................But is that by definition a bad thing ?? I felt the same way about the Nobby BO.......... 8)

I'll be honest, I would totally buy a bolt-on bubinga Nobby with JJ pups if it was priced like a standard Vette. Make it fretless for the same price and I'll have the Debit card out before the cashier could say, "Will that be debit or credit". I really like this idea and would love to see this "working man's price" bass come to life.

i would hope it would be less than a corvette, since there is alot less wood being used.
 
Yes, indeed, it would be less wood than a corvette, but the Nobby includes a stand, and the headless hardware is Nobby-specific, so less volume, and higher cost...

I would think that a price-point equivalent to a corvette standard makes a lot of sense!
