"entry level" Nobby, anyone interested?

A simpler, cheaper Nobby, would you buy it?

Ok, let's see...

Here is, for proportion comparison purposes, the Nobby Signature as it is compared to what it would look like with a neck joint in the 20-21st fret region, if the body shape is not changed:




so still relatively easy higher fret acess, still reasonably proportioned, and as a bonus, the 1st fret is actually closer! :P
 
And let's see our (well, ok, mine...) four initial wood choices, presented in bolt-on flavor...

Ash


Bubinga


Maple


Ovangkol


(and yes, Gregory, I know you said that chrome hardware is cheaper, but I'm a sucker for black hardware... :P)
 
The added bonus of the bolt-on is that it's even smaller to carry around! I like it
 
bubinga and ash are still my favorites. for travel sake, i think it should be ash, its lighter..

the Ash version looks really nice, although I'm an Ovangkol/Bubinga type of guy. Hey Jan, excellent work on the 21st fret neck joint photoshop. I was like: uhhhhhhhh..................which one is the original ?? :twisted:

i dig the black! since the corvette is 800-900 dollars, i'm assuming this would sell for somewhere between 700-800!

also, if i'm traveling, and i'm stuck in a boot without a paddle, i could use the bass! :lol: 8)
 
I love the Ovangkol, and Maple, but wow that orange is hot. Can you show the maple one in orange :D ...

Florin, coming from you, it means a lot! :)
It would be a cool little bass with loads of personality, now wouldn't it?

And if it ends up in "normal" production, then we an have lefties and fretlesses, and go to the CS to have a $$ nobby, for instance!

But I was wondering... The J/TJ pickups would bring up the price a bit on an entry-level bass, maybe it should be a P/J configuration like the original nobby?
 
Hmmmm..........................nobody has mentioned a 5 string Nobby yet...........What are your thoughts about this ??
 
How do you deal with the fifth tuning head? I'm not sure if there would be room for it at the bottom of the body...

And the "headless head" that was developped for the new nobby is a four string thing, so it would entail additional development costs to get a five string....

Although I like the idea of a 35" Nobby, strung BEAD or F#BEA... :twisted: Although again I guess that the tapered trings used for B or F# would be very useful with the nobby setup...

Four string sounds like a basic, usefull, all around bass to me...

Haha !!!

Totally disregarded that aspect. :lol: Yes, it would be difficult to squeeze three tuners on one side..............Some modification is required indeed.
Cost wise, yeah, it's not related to the topic of a budget Nobby. But since we're talking Nobby anyway, I thought about mentioning it here. 8)
 
better yet, tj,p set up. Considering the potential price, this would be alot of peoples first warwick, so all tonal posibilities are needed.
