I have been interested in coated strings lately, but most of the strings that are available, don't have taper B's. I was wondering if the EMP's strings have the same taper concept as the Black label strings.
non-tapered strings don't sound so nice with my streamer stage I 6 :D

yes they do have the tapered B string. they are coated on the inside though, unlike elixers which have an outer coating...
 
EMP strings

That sounds interesting that the coating it's in the inside. have you had a chance to do a tone comparison with the regular warwick strings, or any other type of strings.

A lot of people on this forum really love EMPs (including me). Mine are still going strong after 6 months... which helps put the extra cost into perspective.

6 months!!!! wow, there is defintely some savings here.
Is the tone anydifferent than say, black labels...or DR lowriders....

To my ears they sound the same, or even better than Black Labels.
 
It sounds like the strings I have been looking for , but I can;t find a good source for them. Can you guys tell me where to get them? :?

The EMP's are actually Black Labels,but they last about 3 times longer.
 
What is the average EMP lifespan, according to y'all ?


Mine are 6 months old, I'd like to change them but they don't sound that weak, so I thing I'm going to wait...
 
I'd get a year Ian.I play daily but dont gig.When I saw Seth's clinic his were 8 months old & still going.
 
I must say that I've gigged once with it, and rehearsed maybe a dozen time during these 6 months... Rest of the time, I was playing the bass at home... Oh and I recorded for my band's demo too... Obviously I'll wait before I change them...

What worries me a bit is that I have to re-record my band's demo soon (yep, that sucks) and I don't want dead strings on my bass...

Mine have two months now... approx 30 gigs in sun, rain, even snow yesterday, the rest of the days rehearsals... And I feel like maybe... it is time to change them now ( they still sound brilliant, I am just crazy). But I've decided to go the next 5 days still with them, and to change them on Monday.
 
Lincoln Goines, the best teacher at my school says that at most the longest the strings should stay on an active bass in two months.

Just passing it on.
 
Why on an "active" ? And does it apply to Coated strings ?
 
What does it have to do with being active or passive? :? And why would you change them if they sound good?
 
Hes endorsed by fodera, so not coated, and its because active is stronger, so in theory picks up more of the strings subtle traits. I just passed it on because ive found that every two months is perfect.
