Drugs

I just HAVE to tell you about my worst concert-experience. It wasn`t my band, but another famous norwegian metal act. It was still hillarious,though..

This was in Hamburg in the mid-90`s, and the band was so piss-drunk that the drummer started most of the songs with the wrong beats, the singer fell over, tumbled himself up and grabbed the neck on the bassguitar, blocking the strings, he and the bassplayer had an argument while playing. The final came when the drummer fell over his drumkit and in front of the stage.

....and still I thought: "hmm, impressive to actually manage to play theese fast songs mostly accurate when you`re so pissed" and "this is Spinal Tap".

.....ah, "what band", you ask? It starts with MAY and ends with HEM. 8)

Don't really want to go on about this a lot... but Florin's experiences pretty much mirror my own... except I haven't got a son!

I usually drive to gigs, so won't drink anyway. sometimes a have a cigar, but i won't be doing that after 1 July (smoking ban in UK)

Good call...stay clean, guys. I find that as I age the brief enjoyable moments of the alcohol buzz are not worth the long, drawn-out misery of the next morning.

Besides, as many have mentioned previously, playing suffers. I just simply can't be sharp if I've been drinking.

Some of my friends, who are known to get colossal hang-over no matter what, usually take an allergy pill called Zyrtec before drinking. This eliminates the "day after". I`ve tried it myself, works as hell, although I never achieve hang-overs anymore now.
 
Dang..............

I can drink a lot...................but I've never ever had a hangover in my life !!! :shock: I only hear people talk about it................... :lol:

It`s great, isn`t it!! I found out that a tequila on the end of a long night, eliminates the risk of headache to almost 0%.

I also heard something about drinking a warm glas of milk (or something)before going to bed; that should reduce the likeliness of a hangover........... :roll:
 
The cure for a hangover is...... (Drum roll).....

WATER

Yes, water.. My wife is a doctor and she told me about this a long long time ago. If you have been drinking all night, right before you go to bed you drink the biggest glass of water you can. A hangover is basically dehydration, Alchohol makes your body process liquids uber fast (thus is the reason why you go to the bathroom 6000 times).
 
Or not drinking in excess? That's got to be a sure fire method...

In fact: Yes - that's true.
But it's not the only reason for hangovers. In fact they don't even know what exactly is. There are people which NEVER have hangovers, without drinking any water. But dehydration-level is same for them. Others can drink water and get hangovers nevertheless.

At least that's something i learned (yes, in school ;) ) a time ago.

I drink a lot of water when I play. Anything else messes with my meter (time). Then a Seagram's Crown Royal "on the rocks" after I get home from the gig, after the van is parked, and the basses are put away.

Other than that, I'd just like to say that I've seen a lot of people go from "having it all" to "losing it all", no thanks to drugs like cocaine, heroin and meth. Hell, there was some bad heroin in Detroit during the winter of 2005-2006 in which the newspapers posted 12 deaths, and God knows how many that didn't make the papers. I'm sure that many of you out there have stories of someone you know who got tangled up in something they couldn't control, and wound up selling everything they had to stay stoned. Then losing the job, the house, the wife and family, and it goes downhill from there...

I guess our knowledge is based on the sum total of what we have experienced. And in 48 years I've seen enough. Just a word of caution: These street drugs are no better than the person who made them, and if you knew what was in some of this stuff, you would never,ever, go near it.

Speaking of drugs... Dont you hate it when you see parents doing it... Around theyre children?! I just called the police on one of my neighbores about 2 hours ago... I was walking past and was blasted with the smell of weed. The cops cameout, smelled it... walked in the persons house and talked to them for a moment and left... AND DID NOTHING! and they had a kid sitting in there with them having to breathe all that in... That really makes me mad.

My dad does the same thing... But also got my little 13 year old sister smoking weed with him now... why? because and I quote "i would rather her get high with me where it safe than go out and do it with someone she doesnt know" he lives about 900 miles away and I cant do much... I will be down there for xmas though, Maybe I should smack him upside the head a bit for being such a crappy father.

I personally dont think anyone should be doing any of that... espically parents. I've had alot of friends get high with theyre parents... and thats back when we were all teenagers.... what is this world coming to?
 
That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard! You'd be right to smack him one!
 
I'll smack him as well.... And I'll pull your sisters ears as well..even if she might not know better...

As for yor father, I agree with the above posts..

But, as for your neighbor.. I think that you should just ignore them, there will always be dumb people (its an unfortunate part of nature). Getting involved in other people's buisness (who are both dumd and not dumb) is going to bring you nothing but what it already has -- stress. If someone wants to do something dumb just consider yourself fortunate enough to know the difference and move along.. Its really not worth the stress/drama.

Casey,be careful announcing publicly that your a police informant,they have a tendency to mysteriously "fall by the wayside" if you get what I'm saying.Your better off being in one piece & just let the world do it's thing,you cant save people from themselves man.Most people believe what they do in their own homes is their business & has little to do with how their neigbours feel about it.I'm sure there's been times that you have broken the law,it doesnt mean you deserve to be dobbed in by an unthinking but well meaning stranger.Simply,put yourself & your family first,dont bother with saving the great unwashed masses.
 
booze and ciggs are worse than weed... LEGALIZE IT! :D if its legal, a lot of people would stop.

heroine and cocaine are just absolutely disgusting to me though.
