Drugs

I have to agree with the alcohol and cigarettes being drugs also... If it messes you up or makes you kill over it... it's a drug... although now someone is going to make a comment about money... or oil, in bushes case :)

I dont do any of that though... I stick to my beef jerky and redbull :)

What about the amount of people that have died or killed in the name of their GOD? You could just as easily say God messes people up or makes them kill. This make GOD a drug?...

Jay,

If you refer to thumbins post (as it seams)... Why do you refer to God when Thumbin referes to drugs as beef jerky and redbull :?:

I've used alcohol (massive amounts) and cigarettes (40/day) I've tried other stuff too...
As I've noticed, there is a strong current anti marijuana, and they are able to say anything to keep it illegal, and there is a strong current pro legalization and they just say anything for that... So just don't be fooled by the advertising my friends...
I say marijuana can seriously f*** you up, as any other drug when you take it on regular basis.

Being a lot of time in tour, with many concerts and a lot of stress, I started to be more careful about my health, because I had the feeling that I will not resist more if I keep it that way. So I dont smoke, I don't drink, and I don't take other drugs for a few years now.

I say bein AWAKE is far more interesting, and I enjoy LIFE and LOVE. And MUSIC.... who needs drugs when he has a warwick in his hands?

And just a personal thought ... I say there are many more causes to fight for, much better than legalization...
... take your drugs if you like'em but don't say they are good, because they are NOT!

To quote him, "it messes you up or makes you kill over it... it's a drug", and he's a vocal christian so just thought it was something to think about...

Nothing in thumbins post shows any trace of religious content.. so don't refer to "it" in his name.

However... I fully agree with you Jay, that too many wars are carried out in the name of "a god" .... and for all other reasons as well for that matter.

Imagine all the people, living ....

I have read several medical journals about the psychological effects of LSD and how every person reacts differently to the drug. Every journal stated that the emotional maturity factor plays a huge impact on how the individual will cope during their "trip" and what their mental state will be afterwards. Some individuals reported mind-opening experiences while others reported the feeling of terror and lack of mental control. One of the journals stated that taking LSD is one of the hardest psychological stressors you can put on your brain and that there have been cases of individuals taking LSD and never fully recovering from their "trip". Additionally, several U.S. states have declared that an individual who takes more than 7 hits of Acid in their lifetime would be deemed "legally insane".

Just some food for thought.

"god is a drug" lol, i like that, it takes everything completely out of perspective but in many ways God or Religion can act as a "drug". For example many people turn to god in times of need, though this is clearly preferable to turning to "the bottle". Also god or religion cause many squabbles between friends that could otherwise be avoided, this is also true of drugs, i had a friend who I no longer talk to because of the effect canabis has had on his personality. God is also motivation for us to do both good and bad things, this can also be true of drugs, though not so much the good. I am not religous and hope i have not offended anyone, if i have i sincerly appologise. I think that "god is a drug" is an interesting analogy. Should we ban god? Of course not! so then should we be banning drugs? lol thats not realy a very good arguement is it? though there is a very good arguement for the legalisation of all drugs but ill go into that later. Have fun every1

Jay, I didn't said I am against it, I said that life is too short to fight for this. I say if you have the energy to fight for a good cause, well... you can do better than that.

And let God out if this... people are killing for their egos, for their stupid pride, for land, and for oil, not for God really.
Just my two cents...

y fight 4 a good cause when we can fight for a cause that meens nothing to us and has the added benifit of more dead people woop!!! sorry that realy is aload of bolloks but i felt like saying it anyway

I can agree with that. I support legalization, but I honestly don't fight for shit...

Ok, now I think we all need to take a drag.....Ok now enough with the philosophy. No one is judging anyone here and when did God get envolved? There is a difference between being passionate about your lifestyle and living a lifestyle of addiction to drugs. If you miss church on Sunday, you'll probably get over it, but if you miss that morning dose of heroine when your body says "I need it"....watch out!  I wish we lived in a world where all it would take is for us all to smoke a joint together or go to church together and we all get along...but here in Newark, NJ. there is a church on every corner and a weed spot on every other corner yet we have had 42 murders alredy...it's not even hot yet! So I don't know about legalizing it here. We all know what the original post meant by "drugs" so we should probably keep it there. Thanks.

There was a Big Mountain show in Romania, and they were singin " you gotta legalize it and we will advertise it!" And I thought... : "come on, you have 50000 people in front of you and the power to make a change... that is all you can do? "And I was quite a smoker back then...

Gee,whatta thread to wake up to.I think everyones just about said it all on this subject,so I'll spare ya's my thoughts except to say,"kids put life into perspective".

God really has nothing to do with war or violence... It's the wackos out theyre that take theyre religion so far that it has nothing to even do with what God originally commanded and start killing people.

If worshipping God is a drug/crime... then I'm guilty as charged :D

Wackos. I agree but they are on all sides and for some reason, we keep letting them end up in charge of things. If there are so few of them, and so many people that are not wackos, then why are they still running the world? And why have we not dragged them out into the street and exposed them for what they are? ~M~

My two cents.. Drink is enough for me, I got bored of getting hammered a while back - getting stupidly sick also helped this decision - but having a few social drinks every now and again keeps me content.

I stopped the dope thing a while back, I never got heavily into it but I wouldnt say no if it was past on. And I do agree that the mental maturity and state of mind of a person determines how they handle anything. I remember recording 4-5years ago and some random guy came into the studio and sold a couple of the guys a cookie.. The other two became paranoid, sick and really messed up.. I had half of the thing (Double what the other guys had) and was completely chilled out and these guys were using heaps back then and even now.. Just really depends on the person.

But after seeing the effect that drugs have had on people's lifes and how its messed them up, theres no need for them.. at least abuse of them. I played a few gigs with Stevie Wright - Lead singer of the Easybeats - last year and just how completely f*cked up he is after having a Herion addiction and how his Methodone program (That hasnt been changed in 15-20years) has left him as a person. He's still got some Mojo left but its beyond sad to see the state he's in. Its better to be straight than wasted when you see people like that. Everyone has the mental ability to choose whether they do something or not and whether they want to stop it.

As for legalising it for medicanal purposes.. Ive heard of cases where it benefits the person for their quality of life if they have a debilitating and/or eventually fatal disease/condition after perscribed drugs have failed or leave the person in large amounts of pain. If you think about it, the medicine men of tribes and other cultures used the plants and what nature provided to kill diseases and these people survived for thousands of years, why cant we continue to do the same.

As for the God thing, I think its great that people find joy in religion, whatever makes you happy.. And thats the important phrase, whatever makes you happy.
But killing in the name of God is still one of the leading causes of death ever. We've lost so much information on the important things in life that comes from the cultures that were wiped out because they were considered 'evil'.. I agree that Fanatics are mostly to blame but its still a scary thought to think how many people have been wiped out from this.
