Are you talking about Herbie Hancock's chameleon? Shouldn't we start with something more accessible?

I think its very accessible in some sense, but there isnt much room for artistic interpretation. We should do something like "Beauty and the Beast" by Wayne Shorter or "Indigo Dreamscapes" by Jack DeJohnette. Those are really open for some artistic interpretation if you wanna go the fusion jazz route...

Or, "Hang Up Your Hang Ups" by Herbie Hancock. That has alot of room for the bass.

so you guys are suggesting that we just play over the original recordings?
that could get really messy on some of the songs you guys are mentioning.

i like the idea of a rap or R&B song that doesn't have much in the way of a bass line.

Or how about someone makes a beat, posts it, and then we have to write a line to it.

I'll make the beat if you guys want.

I'd put my vote on for that!

I think a simple beat would be kind of limiting. Not too much though. Perhaps 2-3 consecutive parts
from a favourite song would be nice. Just the drums or with some chords over it, perhaps clean guitar.
