So I'm learning to tap, and I've hit a few stumbling blocks and can't seem to progress any further. Any tips as to go about creating melody?

Here's a youtube clip of where I'm at at the moment

Well you could look into Wooten stuff a bit as far as melody goes and also try moving out a bit from the group of notes your using. There are loads of notes near there that will work really nicely.

It's got a Claypool vibe to it. Nutty and twisted. I kinda like it.

make sure to keep your left hands thumb not visible to the camera, or above the neck (it will slow you down) and make sure to keep your right hand thumb on the neck (it will give you more leverage) but it sounded really cool, you should try and mess around with pedal tones while tapping, it sounds cool

Thanks for the replies. I've also discovered that I cant even do what I did in that clip whilst standing up  I'm going to have to always stand with the bass on a strap if I'm to progress; I guess.

I think you're doing really well for someone that's learning to tap.Everything I tap sounds like complete crap.I've given up on it.
Beautiful tone btw.The perfect example of the Thumb bo.
