Beeswax on a mahogani bass (non warwick)

I'd say it depends on the finish - it could be stained but then lacquered or it could be stained and waxed etc.

Unfortunately the info in that link doesn't say what the finish actually is - "stained mahogany" doesn't actually mean much - there are water based stains, spirit based stains, tea stains, grass stains (just joking about the last 2).

Do you have one of these basses - it should be fairly easy to tell if it's waxed or not.

I don't understand why anyone
would want to wax a finish that
does not require it.

I have played on a T14, as well
as a T25, and I have to admit,
aside from pickup shape (irregular)
the bass is amazing.

You don't need to wax it at all,
and I wouldn't want to anyway.

Waxing just adds a nice depth (at least on bubinga) and makes it look new and wonderful!
 
I'd ask Washburn & see what they say.
A guitar polish might be the best thing to use.
The reason I personally dont reccomend wax for a stained finish is because wax can effect the finish over time.Eg.coloured oil finish that Warwick use.They reccomend not waxing this finish coz over time,it'll fade the finish resulting in an inconsistent finish.
Another reason is that this bass may have a clear satin coat that wax will not penetrate,so you'll waste your time,money & wax.

It's not the Mahogany that
most of you are thinking of.

Peavey Grind NTB's and Washburn
Taurus basses are made from
cheap Chinese Mahogany
that you can take chunks from
with your thumb nail, without
trying.

I used to use my Grind NTB
for slap before I turned it into
a shredder, and within the scallop
are plenty of chunks.

Not to mention on the forearm cut,
where I used to rest a studded
band.

Honestly, you could polish it,
but there won't be a noticeable
difference.

It's like waxing a turd.

However, it doesn't take away
from the overall playability of
the bass.

If I could do it over again, I'd
disassemble the body, and give
it a nice poly finish.
