i don´t know anybody playing a streamer $$, but it is the best bass of the year  , i like this bass much more than others but i don´t found any body that playing this model ( including this forum). It is a question that suspense me. Why?? it´s a mistery. I wanna see clips of this bass, i don´t wanna see corvettes $$, i wanna see streamers in action!!!!!.

i don´t want offend anybody but only i see the vettes in all parts, i want to see "the others"*

* small joke (nicole kidman film [alejandro amenabar])

Well the corvette was almost £600 cheaper when i got my one otherwise i'd have jumped and grabbed the streamer version. I think affordability is the main factor, and most people associate the $$ as a corvette model.

Its a bit like the jazzman as well i see more corvettes jazz mans than streamers.

I personally can't comment on the streamer $$ as i haven't played it but the specs do look very nice imo.

Other than the comfort of the contoured body,
is there really any difference from the Vett ?

I had to get used to the contour on my Spector
NS. I'd be happier if it were flat. I don't need a
"gut contour" for the gut I ain't got ....

A flat body sits just fine on me. Very comfy. A
contour body rests against me only at its edges
and is actually LESS comfortable. I bought this
particular ax for all its other positive attributes,
DESPITE the contour.

BTW, I'm certainly with you about the $$ part.
Even Stuart Spector is with you. My NS has his
EMG "JazzMan" config, which he later dropped
in favor of a $$ config [altho not the close set
$$ config unique to Warwick .... ] My NS is an
NSJH and the new ones are NSHH. Swapping
that "J" for an "H" denotes the change over to
"$$" from "JazzMan". Since he uses splittable
dual coil EMGs, it's essentially the same idea
as the Warwick.

But to the real question: Other than the body
contour, how is it different from the Vett $$ ?

I believe the names are spelled differently.

:D

`

Thaz only several letters. You'd hardly notice
it if you've got a medium-loud drummer ......

I feel the need to defend my fellow fatties Golem against flat bellied Golem.
The contour also serves to ach the top, eliminating the need for an elbow cut & treble scoop.

But truly I have huge sympatico toward guys with real guts !!

I had originally hoped that my FNA JazzMan 5 would replace
my NSJH 5, and thus eliminate the only contoured ax in my
whole flock. The Wick had the sound and the 5 strings, but I
just couldn't deal with the weird Warwick 5-string neck. Very
sad. I coulda sold the NS to someone with a gut, someone
that was suffering, aching, dieing .... for a contoured bass,
I tried and tried to accomodate that neck, til my hand hurt.

Oh well, as they say, "Best laid plans of moose and squirrel".

As to the carved top effect, I see what you mean. Again it
doesn't matter to me, but I know many players dig that. It
may not matter to my playing, but it does look cool. Don't
forget that many of my most fave basses are thinline hollow
bodies, which means no concave backside, and no forearm
cut on the top. I'm used to that. My best bass is 7" [180mm]
deep, has evil squared jointed edges, and the back bulges
very much outward [convex]. Of course, it's not a thinline !

I know a guy who plays a very similar bass, and he is one
very large dude, with a gut to match. He is a verrrry great
player, and it hurts me to watch him barely wrap his arm
over that deep, square-edged hollow body and reach for
the strings. So again, I really do have sympatico.

`

Yeah I had trouble with the 5 string neck as well.Mainly with the narrow spacing.I couldnt just let myself go & let the music flow.An extra & constant effort was required to achieve what I get on the 4 string neck with the wider spacing.Clean playing with consistency. So now I'm a slightly less crappier player than i was before.

I personally own this bass (streamer $$ 5 strings) and to tell the truth it's become my favourite bass. The shape of the body suits me much better than the corvette but that's a personal taste. The other difference with the corvette $$ is that there is an Ekanga veneer layer between back and top (sandwich construction).
The only thing I've changed on the bass is the strings. I don't know which strings they put on new Warwicks but mine did not suit me at all so that I put Ernie Ball strings on the bass. They are 6 months old and they still sound great.

Seems like almost ALL basses come with the "wrong" strings
for that particular bass. Frinstintz, I'm forever removing Ernie
Ball strings from Ernie Ball basses. Yet I have no doubt that
they sound great on your Streamer.

Perznally I prefer to buy strings not "made" by a bass maker.
Gotta cut EB Strings some slack tho, since they were making
strings before they ever got into making basses.

`

Which strings would you put on the streamer $$ ? I know it's a difficult question since there are so many brands out there...

my thumb was bass of the year in '89, but it's not a streamer....

and yes, EB strings are the only ones I've ever broken. I used to buy them cuz they're cheap, but cheap only gets you so far....

You think that EB strings are cheap ? Maybe in the US but not in Europe... even though there are strings which are more expensive... anyway there are quite a few which are very cheap compared to the EB (I'm thinking of Hartke strings).

"Which strings .... ?" Please offer a hint as to what you
wanna hear from these alleged "strings" ???

By not saying just why you chose a $$, you leave me
to presume that you've chosen from the darker end of
the Wick tonal pallette quite intentionally. If you wanna
emphasise that choice, I'd say get nickel alloy strings,
not just nickel plated. TI Super Alloy comes to mind but
I've never tried them. TI Jazz RWs are cool and I have
tried those, altho I switched to TI Jazz flats. The TI Jazz
series sound deeper than what is implied by their nickel
content. They have lower tension than most strings, so
that gives them a bit of the "short scale thump" that is
common to 30" basses, even though you're playing a
full 34" scale.

I'd guess your intentions differ from mine. FWIW, my
"Streamer copy" [Spector NSJH] wears Rotosound 88s,
black nylon flats. There are other differences between
a Steamer and an NS, but I was just pointing out that
we prolly chose our somewhat similar basses for very
different reasons, and my string choice just puts some
emphasis on that.

I do have a real Warwick $$, but it's not a Streamer.
It's an ash Vett and it wears D'Addario 1/2rounds. Not
their "Nickel Wound" [which are plated steel] but their
"Pure Nickel Alloy" version. Anywayz, I almost never
gig it. It's mainly a practice mule for it's FL twin. I did
gig it one week, just to "welcome" it, but then I went
right back to the FL .... bottom line being I don't have
a strong opinion on strings for my $$ since it's just a
practice mule, not rehearsal .... just home practice.

But, I wouldn't keep that set on there if I didn't enjoy
the sound of them solo, and they did sound good in
the Diva Duo, however briefly. [The FL still wears the
Roto 77s, Monel flats, that it came with].

so a 1700 bass, is your practice bass?

`

Well, I'm not that crazy. In context, it's both worse
than you think, AND better than you think. To me,
it's not a $1700 bass, cuz I never paid that, and I
never would have. It was about $1100 brand new,
and if I'd only been more patient, a clean used one
later turned up for $900. The FL $$, however, was
the only one around, also $1100 new .... and no
used ones ever turned up around here.

So, the LESS crazy is that they are $1100 not $1700
but the MORE crazy is that, yes I do acquire pairs of
FL-plus-fretted, so it's a $2200 pair, but I only gig
$1100 worth of it. But practice is very important !

Or, if we use your $1700 figger, and allow that I've
spent $2200 for the pair, then let's say the $$ FL is
a $1700 gigging bass and that leaves $500 for the
fretted mule .... feel better now ?

The $$ actually serves as the only fretted mule for
all three FL Vetts, so again that improves the ROI.

#@%&#@%&#@%&#@&%#@&%#&@%#&#&@%&

The EBMMs are the same story. Just one fretted
StingRay serves as the practice mule for four or
five FL Rays and Sterlings.

The mule Ray is a sorta similar story as the Vett $$
mule. Supposedly, it's an $1800 limited edition. Well
it IS a 30th Anniversary Ray, but it "came to papa"
for only $1050, cuz it was still hanging unsold when
the 32nd anniversary date rolled around.

There's more ... three Fender AE/Ps but only one is
fretted, and hey ... three Guild Pilots but two of them
are fretted !!! Jeez, what could I have been thinkin ??

And there's more .... but you don't really wanna hear
it, right ??? I mean, it's just too decadent, right ???
