That Jake dude is on his way to become an Internet legend :) Reminds me of the story of the Dudepit. It's bad when you've antagonised a whole community through your actions. Karma and all.

I hope IncX gets this sorted out to his benefit. I hope he wont get away with it, thinking he can scam someone from the other side of the planet and get away Scott free.
 
Good stuff. I really like the hall of shame thread idea. A list of all known scammers. Not sure of legalities, but is a cool idea.

but will someone explain this one to me. "this guy looks like a soap dodgin wigga crustie to me" Said about Jake Day on the uk basschat forum, Looks like a right proper insult to me, but for the life of me, I have no clue what it means. But I think I would like to.

I have plenty of colorful language I could use about that dispicable piece of sh*t Jake, but I will refrain.

I have a talkbass account too. I don't go there much. I think that the forum
has gotten to big for it's own good. It seems like threads go get buried by
other threads before they have a chance to get a response. I'm over that
forum.

Thats incredible, I've never seen such a fast response to any kind of thread on the basschat forums before.

Just goes to show that nothing gets people angrier than a dirty rotten scoundrel. The thread has been locked now, lets hope its sorted out soon!
 
I think it's because there is a lot of business done on forums.

I always feel safe doing business with a known forum member, much more so than ebay. In fact I've just today put £350 in a basschatter's account for a Thunderfunk head. (Having said that, I spent a few hours researching and sent a few messages to satisfy myself and I made sure he scanned me a proof of address before money changed hands)

Neverless this could have happened to me (and still could on this deal). Jake had been a contributing member on a number of forums for a few years and anyone could have been caught out by him.

I think that's why everyone is so keen to put it right.
