6-string bass with a low F# string

I wonder if there´s a option in the customshop to build a 6-string bass with a measure of 35" that has a low F# string like the Vampyre Dark Lord.

It sounds reasonable. I think the only thing holding you back would be if they have a bridge that could accept the 6 strings that's big enough for the F#. Also, they probably don't make a 6 string set with a low F# so you would have to custom order your strings. I assume the nut would also have to be bone because none of the JANs are made for this. It sounds like a cool idea though.

No prob with the bridge since wick strings are tapered. Only problem might be the nut. But you could file it easily. For the strings, you could simply buy a 5 string set with an extra F# string.

indeed. I just can't imagine how ERB players cope with strings costs.

One thing to keep in mind is that a .175 F# string doesn't break as often as a .20 C string... so the lower strings on an ERB, those that are the most expensive, tend to be changed less frequently...

One of the big costs of ERB-ness is amplification, though... (oh, and the Custom instruments as well... )

i think someones already done this. not sure if its a low F# but it looks likea very thick string

ERB = Extended Range Bass. (truthfully, anything
over four strings is an ERB, but most don't consider
it an ERB until it hits six now-a-days.)

That pic of the white BO Thumb definitely looks like
it's strung with an F-G setup for sure.

I think you might be able to get a JAN for low F#-G. the picture i posted before of the white thumb BO looks like a JAN. so maybe they do make JANs like these as a custom order.

It does kind of look like the string is
just sitting on top of the nut though...

(As opposed to sitting 'in' the nut.)

yeah it does....
you could probably make it fit better by getting some fine sandpaper and widening the nut slots. you would hav to be fairly accurate tho. i dont even know if this would work tho
