BIG TIME FAVOR PLEASE? Anybody able to measure width of neck
at last fret on a newer non-broadneck 5? Begging ! I'm calling at
lunch to try to get this bass :)

FORGET THE SPECS !!!! You MUST play it. I say this not just to
repeat some well worn platitude. I cannot stand the standard
Warwick 5-string neck. Now thaz just me, subjective, personal,
etc ... BUT !!! But my huge dislike does demonstrate how very
different the Wick 5 is from other 5's of similar fingerboard size
and bridge spacing, cuz I have no trouble at all from the others.
I've got MM Ray and Bongo 5's, a Spector 35" 5, Steinberger 5,
and others.

Obviously plenty of players do dig the Wick 5-string standard
necks, but some of those players [posting earlier] pointed out
that it IS noticeably different, and I wanna agree with them,
WITH EMPHASIS ! If you're the least bit picky about 5-string
neck shape/size, you MUST play it and not just compare specs.

FWIW, I've tried TWICE to get happy with these, and now I
just don't bother. My Spector NSJH5 is my version of a Wick 5
and I leave it at that. Again ... my problem with Wick 5's in
NO WAY "condemns" them, just emphasises how different they
are from most other 5's [of non-broadneck type].

If you were into broadneck, distance purchasing would be so
much simpler, cuz once a neck gets THAT wide, profile shape
has little to do with choosing one over another. They are ALL
a handful for the left hand, but provide a huge playground for
the right hand. OTOH, there much fewer choices of broadneck
5-strings in the marketplace :-(

Well.. just as I knew.. there was a reason I didn't get this bass. I just found a nice Hellborg preamp and bought instead.

THANKS BASS GODS
