ohms

With i play on 4-strings basses it's ok. But when i play on 5-strings basses sound disappears. All indicators on amp works but no sound. And i need to turn off and then turn on the amp to have a sound. It's just like as if triggered some protection on amp. :?:

So I would like to understand Ohms a little more. I read a previous post and am a little more in the know. I was looking at one of the Euphonic iamps which puts out 550 @ 4 ohms or 310 @ 8 ohms. The amp only has one speakon out as it is compact. So I know I can run one cabinet at 4 ohms...

I just bought a second hand amp locally. It's a combo amp, but you can actually disconnect the amp from the built in driver and hook it to something else (presumable a cabinet). On top of that, it also has another output right next to that one that can also go out to a cabinet. Now, above...

if i use my gallien-krueger 700RB-II (Main Amp-480W@4ohm, 320W@8ohm, 1 kHz. -- Horn Amp-50W@8ohm, 5kHz) with my ashdown deep bass 4 10 (8 ohms 450Watts) and a gallien-krueger 210RBH (8 ohms 400 Watts) will this work? all too confusing for me.

Ok, we are always talking about power rating and impedance, but what are those ohms? I don't want to give very scientific answers, because they are not very important. More important is to remember some simple rules from now on. So, the "impedance" is somehow similar with "resistance"...
