There's been a lot of discussion in different bass forums about newer D-shaped necks vs older warwicks with a C-shape all-wenge neck. The custom shop can offer an all-wenge neck, but can someone order a bass with the older "slimmer" neck profile?
Anyone know what wood choice would make the lightest neck possible?
(I think maple with maple fingerboard).
And while we're at it ,which body shape is heavier ,given the wood choice is the same, a corvette or a streamer?
I am trying to figure out which options would make the most vertical...
Well I've got this 99 wenge neck that I love, and I'm thinking that if I buy another Warwick I want it custom made with a wenge neck. I was wondering though: the newer ovangkol necks are not only made by a different wood, they have also a different shape, more D-like where the wenge is more...
Hello, I've got a 2001 passive Corvette std with ovangkol neck and a 1999 active Corvette std with wenge neck. I am thinking of swaping the necks. Is that safe/easy?
Thanks
Hi,
I just ordered a new Corvette Hot Rod LTD 2005 and play fingerstyle rock. Does anyone know which strings sound the best on a Warwick Maple neck / fingerboard bass? I don't have the funds to go out and try every string on the market, but I’m considering the following brands:
Warwick...
hey all,
since the introduction of the Streamer Jazzman 5 I had the idea to order a fretless Jazzman 5 and swap the neck with my fretted LX5.
I belive the Jazzman's electronics and wood combo would be great for fretted techniques while my LX5 would make a great fretless.
the guys at the...
My Streamer has a nice neck, with flamed maple sides, but I really don't like the laminate. Sanding it has crossed my mind, and I was wondering if there's any particular way that's best to do the job.....
I lucked out recently and got a used Corvette 4 with wenge neck and what appears to be a natural ash body. How common is this as compared to other body woods? This baby couldn't sound more different from my Corvette 4 standard I got about a year ago.The older Corvette is more round and woody...
Hello everyone. My name Kaymen. This is my first post. I just bought a Corvette Fretless brand new and i have some questions on setting it up.
First of all, i immediatly replaced the strings with Rotosound Jazz bass 77's which are gauged .105 .85 .65 .45. I have done alittle bit of truss and...
Anyone have any input to the change in neck with the warwick basses.
Current:
Note the added support
I have am investigating purchasing a neck through from 1995 which doesn't appear to have this support. It also has the first iteration of the adjustable nut.
Thoughts? Concerns?
G'day!
In the coming months I will be looking at purchasing a Corvette Standard 6 string in unlined Fretless. I recently got a quote on it and it would be around 2600 AUD (Australian dollars). I also got a quote on the exact same model with a Wenge neck (from the custom shop), and that quote...
Hi,
I´m a new member from Germany and need your advice. I´ve got a 97 Thumb 4 NT with a broken neck. Well, it´s not totally broken and still stays in tune, but I simply don´t like it that way ;)
Do you know if it is possible to fix this in a way that you can´t see/feel it anymore or would...
I was going to buy a 5er today , but when I played it standing up, It dove
for the floor! I tried the 4 and I think I'm in love! NO neckdive, and tone to die for! So why the dive? would a corvette 5er with a maple neck not dive as bad?
