Fretless neck adjustment

Hello everyone. My name Kaymen. This is my first post. I just bought a Corvette Fretless brand new and i have some questions on setting it up.
First of all, i immediatly replaced the strings with Rotosound Jazz bass 77's which are gauged .105 .85 .65 .45. I have done alittle bit of truss and nut adjustment, but i am still having a problem with the strings clicking and slightly buzzing near the first position. Its not too bad until i play eighth notes and it sounds almost as if i'm slaping every note. Can anybody give me advice on setting up action on a fretless? Thanks.
 
If it sounds like your slapping when playing fingerstyle, you might just be playing too hard. I find the best way to play a fretless is near the bridge with a light touch, and a low action.
 
A visit to a good tech person will do the trick i'm sure.Congrats on the new corvette BTW.
 
I had a similar problem with my Thumb NT fretless C bass. When stopping a low F (or C on a B bass), I found that more neck relief and bridge/saddle height got me through. It's true that playing closer to the bridge reduces string transit and therefore buzz, but my favorite playing position is sul tasto, or over the fingerboard. It's a significant parameter in getting good growls. As a stubborn old fool, I won't modify my paradigm for technique.

The Warwicks are most accomodating when making personal adjustments.

Thanks for the advice guys, you have all been very helpful. I think i was running my neck alittle too flat, hopefully some relief will help do the trick. A few more minor adjustments, and i should be good.

I agree totally with Escobon, playing near and over the fingerboard really brings out the beauty in fretless tone.
