crackling

it crackles really bad when attempting volume swells but sounds fine at any volume when not moving, and also doesn't crackle when pulled to bypass the preamp, on my corvette $$. what is the best way to clean this pot my self?

The title says it all - I've noticed that whenever I use my rig (Tubepath 5.1 into 4 ohm version of WCA 411 PRO) at about more than half volume/gain, it starts emitting a crackling, popping noise. It's either short, if I play short notes, or long and repetitive if I let them sustain. It dies out...

i recently bought my first warwick, a 1996 thumb BO, and it is great except for the fact that whenever i touch, or just nudge the volume knob, it make an extremely loud crackling noise. is this normal for the bass or is there some way to fix it?
