Hi all,
I own a thumb NT 5 string, built in '91 (afaik). It has bartolini pickups.
What bothers me for quite a while now is that the bass generates quite a lot of hiss when I set it to active. It has original electronics.
Is this a known 'issue'? Is there something I can do about it...
So back to the Taranis....it comes with a passive MEC JM/MM setup complete with a passive pre-amp...
I really like the idea of an active 3 band pre-amp though, so:
1. Is is feasable (relatively painless) to swap out the passive 2 band for an active 3 band?
2. If so, which pre-amp would be...
So I'm having a pre-amp made by Mike Pope for my Thumb NT 5, and I have to choose whether I want the preamp to accept active or passive pickups. Does anyone happen to know whether these stock MECs in my Thumb NT 5 are passive or active?
I'm hoping they're passive because I'd like to...

Greetings y'all,
I bagged myself a corvette fretless passive 5 the other day. Love this bass to bits but I'd like to "implant" some MEC active electronics.
Has anyone any tips before I buy and install them?
Are there two wires within each pick up cable? I guess all I have to do is...
is there really a point for these two seperate input jack?
i see them on a lot of amp, mine as well, but is there really a point to have "-6 db" for active input when there is a gain knob?
remember we're bassist, not guitarist; so gain does not equal distortation, lol
Hi, I'm looking to convert my passive Corvette to active, but I'm not sure what I need to do it.
Are they kits I can buy?
Is it better to fit MECs, EMGs, Bartolloni, Seymore Duncans? If so which ones, will J style ones fit?
Thanks.
I own:
Warwick Corvette Std Passive (obviously)...
Hi - I have just acquired a very nice Corvette 4 Bubinga fretless, all passive, 2004 built. I'm thinking of changing the electronics to active using the MEC preamp set M60013. Having looked at the schematic on the website this looks like an easy swap.
Has anyone else done this and if so...
i didn't think anyone could get a better deal than me.
i was wrong. $595 US for what is described as very good condition... if only i could justify another one...
about $60 shipping. wow. this better be gone the next time i check, that's the buy of the century.
I was considering making my 97 vette active. I am using a DI now though. Do I really need to make it active? I like the tone but it is awful noisy. What are the positive/negatives if I make it active?...
Hi,
I want to record some bass tracks with my active bass. I pluged the cable into line in of the mixer and set the active level to minimum. But at heavy picking the bass still overdrives a bit. Are my strings too close to the pickups (I lowered them a bit) or should I use an additional...
I own 2 passive corvette, one bubinga and one ash. I´m happy with the sounds but always looking for more!
Can anybody explain what would be the difference if I would have active electronics with passive pickups vs. active el. with active pu´s?
I think I understand act. el., a preamp in the...
I tried a Corvette 5 string with active electronics and bubinga body today and I must say, it really give my thumb a run for the money. I really wish I hadnt touched it because now Im jonesin to pick it up, and if I do so, I will be cutting into my CS savings fund.

Hello.
Well, I'm new to the forum and to the bass. Well, actually to playing any instrument at all.
I want to buy a, well who would guess it, RockBass. I really like the Streamer (4String) in white with the 2 Humbuckers. But I don't know if it would be better to get a bass with active...
hey everyone, I'm new here and I'm looking at Warwick 5 strings.
Right now, these are the two I'm most considering. I play mostly prog/technical death grind and thrash metal, and I was wondering which would be the best. The Active Ash Standard has J pickups which have great growl, while the...
Hi everyone,
I am owner of Warwick Corvette Standard Ash ( passive ) 4 string and I am very satisfied with it. Now I wanna buy myself Corvette Standard Bubinga ( active ) 4 strings fretless version but I can't try one 'cause dealer in my country doesn't have one in their stock.
So my...
