just wanted to share some good news with you guys :)

Looks like we're off to a pretty good start this year with our band 'byron', we'll be releasing a new album in March
and a couple of days ago we found out that Slash's management has selected us from a list of romanian bands to be the opening act to their first gig in Romania on the 5th of February :D
which is pretty exciting and pantspooping news for me! mostly because I've listened to a lot of GNR in my youth and also because I'm also a fan of Myles Kennedy, he's a pretty badass vocalist.

Also, I've never played the venue before, looks like this:

So wish us luck, we're preparing a kickass setlist and we hope we don't get booed off the stage :lol:

Hell yeah! Sounds great. But get those chairs off the way and the audience can rock as well :D

Mr Demeter is a very humble person. He is a very good bassist (just becoming a Warwick Endorser) and his band is one of my favorite Romanian bands ever!

Yes, looks like I'm in the process of becoming a Warwick artist, which for me, having been a fan for so long, is definitely a great honour and privilege. But endorsement or not, I think that the fact that Warwick have created a big family of endorsers, players, fans and friends is one of the awesomest things they could've come up with and I'm already grateful for that.
And regarding the band 'byron' I play in, yep it's one of the best decisions I've made in my life, great music, great people and I'm so glad they thought of me when they needed a bassplayer. Onward and upwards from here, I hope ;)
 
Actually knowing you better I might say that the best decisions you took earlier, by NOT playing with everybody, even for ♣♣♣♣loads of money!

I´m not saying this is the case, and I think this could be a single thread by itself, but you have to be really naive, or don´t know a thing about music business, to think that only bands with good musicians get that kind of oportunities. There are a lot of thing involved, and musicianship is not always in the "top 10" of that list, sadly.

Again, I´m NOT saying this is the case, I´m NOT saying Laszlo or his band are mediocre musicians (TBH, Mr. Demeter is one of the best players I´ve seen lately), I´m only telling how things actually are.
 
I agree with you, Nacho, musicianship is rarely the no1 criteria in choosing opening bands for big acts.
For example, 3 big names that had concerts in Romania last year had the same opening act (very good band btw) and one might blame that on the fact that the promoters that brought those 3 names had also this particular band under contract.
It's a pretty complex subject, I concur.
That being said, the concert slowly draws near and I have a runny nose and muscle fever from playing pingpong :lol:
