Worn Truss Rod on Streamer Stage 1 1991

Hello everyone. I bought this nice vintage streamer stage on ebay a few months back, however the truss rod was worn.. by which I mean that I cant get a grip with allen wrench.

I informed the seller about the problem and tried to get a refund but he refused and said that the problem isnt hard to fix anyway..

Now the lower frets (1-5) rattle annoyingly and I really would like to loosen the rod. Should I replace the rod? Was the seller right or is it a big or expensive thing to do?

Also about the one way truss rod. Im not sure what the user manual says.. you can only tighten it? :?:

Hello & welcome.
Sorry to hear your new baby needs some work,but dont stress,it can be fixed.The reason the rod is damaged could be coz a previous owner used an allen or hex key to adjust the rod instead of the Warwick truss rod tool.When you get a new rod,get the tool. :wink:
A new truss rod can be purchased from Warwick,or if you live in the USA,from Dana B Goods.They're America's Warwick distributor.
What year was your Streamer built?The last 2 digits of the serial number denote the year of production.There are 3 rods to choose from but you need the same rod as they come in different lengths.If you could post some pics for us it'd help alot to identify what you need.

Not all Warwick truss rods are removable, so get the refund if possible
Warwick replaced the trussrod on one of my basses were the fingerboard had to be removed (310 Euros)
