OMG that headshot was really something...

I just think Germany did spend too much energy and stamina in making England and Argentina ridiculous. They were too tired, because Spain actually didn't play that well.

Don't know who I prefer for the Final... Spain really seems in control, and I don't see them lose.

First: The better team won! No need discussing the obvious! But that's what happens if the best player gets two yellow card for nothing. We needed Mueller desperately. The rest of the German team was to anxious. How bad. In 2006, the Italian team insisted in banning Frings for an action after the match against Argentina and beat Germany in the next round. This time, we again had to play without one of our best. I think Mueller will be awarded best Youngster of the Worldcup, and he deserves it ...

But anyway, if you bank on a team which has a lot of perspectives but lacks international experience, you can not expect to win the title. Yesterday's match was like Juniors vs Allstars. And the best scorers of our national league had to stay home or watched the game from the sidelines. Bye bye Klose, Gomez and Löw, hopefully. We will be better off with Müller, Kiesling & Kuranyi. And Magath as coach!

Before the game I told my father "if Pedro starts the game, Spain will win - if Torres starts, Spain will lose". I was right! The game was just like I analysed it to be. Germany's offensive football didn't really work against the short pass game of Spain, Spain got bigger areas to work the ball around on.

Agreed, they played much better. Just as in old times, two years ago. :lol: Our team lacked more than just luck. It looked a bit like the game against the obviously overestimated Argentina, only with changed seats. This time, Germany did not find a clue to be dangerous ...

See you again in the Final of the next European Championship! ;)
 
I never said It was just a question of luck... Spain was obviously better, but I really don't feel like Germany got crushed...

And I still think Spain didn't play that well. They, as they've alway done in this WC, kept the control of the ball, and never faced a real threat from Germany. Pedro was amazing, Inesta too. If they really had played well, I wouldn't have been sooo bored in front of my TV... Or I am asking too much?
 
Germany just didn't come into that match as it should have, they were too cautious. You need to get the opponent by the throat in matches like these. In their earlier matches they gave possession to the opponent and hit with counter attacks but you just can't let Spain play their passing game and expect to live.
 
Oh, I missed the topic because I was out of the forum for so long.

But anyway, I am happy for Spain. I root for them because I'm an Arsenal fan and their biggest superstar is Spanish. Too bad Cesc is not utilized that much. But hope things will change in the finals.

Yeah, of course. But last year, there is some conflict between the Dutch national team and Arsenal when Robin got injured in a friendly and had been out for several months. That costed us the Premiership title. The asshole as Arsene Wenger is, I have to side with him on this issue. :d

Anyway, I see Spain to be a more complete team. And although I admire the Oranje for playing a great World Cup and by kicking the ass of Brazil (another one of my favorite to win), I think Spain will have the final glory. But of course, anything could happen. This is football, and you must always expect the unexpected.
 
Oh ... you mean world cup is about a soccer, oh sorry, a football game??? Damn, I thought it was a beer drinking contest. No wonder the USA sucks so bad at it! Fill the cup with beer, then maybe we would stand a chance to win.
 
Spain did it! They are now WORLD CHAMPIONS !!! Well deserved against a team made out of butchers who reaped TEN yellow cards. The spanish team makes me proud to have spanish roots (my family name can't lie about it)! I'm sad about the french team's flop. They don't even make me dream. The spanish team was fighting, even though they didnt score that many goals. It was all about being realistic and Spain nailed it. Iniesta, Ramos, Xavi, Villa.... So many players that Spain can be proud of.

Now I have to do what I said: I must get a Spain jersey with the "star", and with Ramos' name on it. Cause yeah, I do share my family name with one of Spain's best players!
