Im looking for a good wireless system for bass. Preferably one that has the least amount of interference and one that will not degrade the sound. Anyone have experience with this?
 
Wireless system are the best example of "you get what you pay for" that I can think of. Be sure to go UHF and you'll have less interference problems. As long as you're willing to spend some money you won't notice too much tone degrading, but you have to drop a pretty penny to not lose a bit of punch and headroom...
 
this is something i've been thinking of recently although it'll likly be a while until i actually start looking around propperly. just as an idea what would do you think a GOOD vhf wireless will cost? im just after a very rough estimate
 
Ok, so I will loose some degree of tone with any wireless system regardless of how much I spend? Thing is which system will reproduce my sound the best? Are there any recomendations on which manufacturer, and/or model I coulld use? I have the money for quality.
 
No worries. I'd say as a ballpark figure only, if you spend less than $300 you better plan on being disappointed. Shure and Sennheiser are two brands worth considering. And I'm happy to admit that I'm a bit of a hypocrite on the issue - I wanted a wireless system that had a "pedal style" receiver, so I'm currently using a sub-$300 wireless and am pretty happy with it overall:

ahh thats reassuring...i was thinking about 200 pounds would be an acceptable amount of money to spend on wireless

has anyone had any experience of the samson airline bass???
 
oops sorry i just saw "sub" and presumed it was a different one
 
i have seen one of these once live (a bands called rainbow rising) that i know of and the sound was good...
 
just looked on the UK ebay...i could get a new one for 157 pounds
 
Like I said, it's not the best, but for the money it works pretty well. It takes a little hit on your punch and headroom, but tonally and for dependability it hasn't let me down...
 
yeah im willing to lose a little quality (especially as waricks have so much to start off with) in order to have wireless freedom. any of you guys who sing as well will know that i have a lot on when im on stage and i really dont want to be tripping over wires.

also no-one in my band is perticularly extroverted (except the drummer but hes behind a drum kit) so putting on a show with a good stage act is quite hard and i really want to be able to run between mikes, then be on the drum riser chatting with the drummer, then be on one side of the stage interacting with the croud, then three seconds later at the other side of the stage with a foot on the monitor while glaring at the croud, and with a cable this is impossible...
