Why No "W" ?

I looked for EMP strings and only found sites in Europe selling them. I have no idea what the strings on the Dolph are, but when they die I'll replace them with D'Adario's. I put those on the RB Fortress, they fit fine, and sound amazing.

When I put them on the Fortress I didn't pay attention as to whether they taper, but the B fit great. 2 sets for 30 bucks from Musician's Friend.

OK. I just checked the Warwick Parts Shop and the standard 5-string bridge does not have the W - only the broadspaced version has the W.

So do the standard versions really allow for non-tapered strings? If so, why did my 2007 not have this feature?

To my knowledge, none of the Warwick bridges accommodate non-tapered strings very well. There are currently two ways to deal with this. One, you can file down the tailpiece on the strings that are giving you issues. :shock: This really isn't as bad as it sounds. Just go slow and check frequently to make sure you don't file too much. Two, just deal with it the way you have been.

I've been curious about this because I have a 2007 $$ 5-string, but when I tried non-tapered DR Black Beauties, I still had to take pliers to the B string to make it fit. Perhaps Warwick used an older bridge from the parts bin. Mine does not have a W engraved anywhere on it.

So when did Warwick switch to the wider string anchor with the W? I may need to get one of those if I have to switch to DR strings, since EMPs seem to be no longer available in the US...

The new tail piece accomodates SOME non tapered strings. :wink:
