Why No "W" ?

My 5 string Corvette Active Bubinga does not have a "W" on the saddle. At first I thought this was probably the case with all 5-stringers but I've seen plenty now that do have the "W". Why is this?
 
That struck me yesterday, actually.

But it is logical, since it would look non-symmetric, in opposite to the 6-stringer which have the W between the A- og D-string.

I haven`t seen a 5`er with "W" so far, not even at CS.

Could you post pics, please?
 
Correction; some 5`ers have a \ and a / at the bridge, making it look like a W with the gap. Just look at the LX Broadneck in the gallery.

A detail I don`t miss, to be honest.
 
Making it look like a W? It really is a W, and you know you GAS for one :D
 
Some tail pieces have the W,some dont.They both perform equally.
 
I sell Ws, 1€ each :lol: ...no saddle, just Ws

you think I can get away with this on ebay and make a fortune? :shock:

I haven't looked at the bridge on my NEW Dolphin (okay this I'm being a Bunghole with a new Warwick will wear off soon) simply cause I don't care. The Warwick W is on the headstock. That's what counts.
 
As far as I know up until 2006, its 4string, 5string Broad neck spacing and 6string tailpeices that have the W on it. The standard 5string one did not. I think the new wider tailpeices to accomodate thicker strings have the W on it, even on standard 5string.

As Greg said, they both perform fine. Don't stress it.
 
Maybe it is so other makers can use them.
A friend of mine has a Gibson Les Paul bass with the Warwick bridge and tailpiece and it has the W on, later Les Pauls I have seen do not have it on.
 
My '06 5 stringer doesn't have the W on the bridge. Consistent with the other replied thus far.

I've been curious about this because I have a 2007 $$ 5-string, but when I tried non-tapered DR Black Beauties, I still had to take pliers to the B string to make it fit. Perhaps Warwick used an older bridge from the parts bin. Mine does not have a W engraved anywhere on it.

So when did Warwick switch to the wider string anchor with the W? I may need to get one of those if I have to switch to DR strings, since EMPs seem to be no longer available in the US...
