Just wondering what sort of environment we have here...

Choose the one you play most. I'm sure lots of people here play many different styles but c'mon, there has to be ONE you play more than others.

I play power metal mostly.
 
I play in a concert band that plays everything from classical to musicals to dixieland! On the side I also play jazz and have played rock and blues in the past... I'm more or less to play anything short of death metal as long as I like the people I play with. I'd love to play the kind of jam based jazz that MMW play, but that would mean having to improve my chops (a lot!) and finding others who want to play that too.
 
considering this is a bass-place, i think you should add a Funk-option in the poll :D
 
I guess I play a lot of Tool's stuff. It's fun, sounds good, and it makes me want to play better. :D
 
Fusion, (Mostly a mish mosh of new age Jazz and a sprinkle of southern hip-hop) is my current brain child. It is starting to come together quite well and people are diggin' it.. I am thinking of making a Myspace Music page soon.

I sit in every now and then for my friend who plays bass for his father in a blues band.. Thats always fun.

I also play for a Raggae band, which I love because we always get to play at these sweet bars on the river or the beach (not to mention the ladies love it).
 
I'm mostly into metal... now I'm not sure that what I do qualifies as playing, but I'll give myself the benefit of the doubt.. :p
 
Latin styles, mostly South American grooves. Also West Indian socca music.
 
Not to say I am anywhere near the master of this kind of playing, but I'll say progressive metal. I've been practicing some Dream Theater stuff recently, and have been keeping open to learning theory as I go. I would also love to get into some kind of progressive melodic death metal (not too specific! :P ) band when I feel comfortable enough playing it.
 
I voted fusion... I mainly play fusion/jazz/latin/funk/soul/hip hop stuff :) But also cover music (need the cash), so that qualifies rock/pop stuff. 8) I've also played metal and punk :D Simplified: I play bass :wink:
 
Funk Rock baby. I also do some blues.... and a little Motown.... and a little of everything else. :P

You're both right.I cant believe there's no funk option.That's just about all I play.

That sounds cool.

I play anything I like, mostly rock. My whole point is to make anything I play mine. To make it individual. When I played in a band we had that same approach and played literally everything you could imagine, just our own style. I really have no desire to replicate anything anyone else does to the letter.
