Hi,

i have bought this bass and i know that the body wood usually is bubinga for the Thumb, but this looks a little bit strange to my eyes.
What do you think ?
Could it be spalted maple ?

It's alot like Herbies 89.
Just check out the grain on the bass side, then the centre mask, then the treble side.Very similar grain patterns.
If you ever have any doubts about bubinga, close your eyes & listen. It's tone is unmistakable.

Or play with the bass strapped. The weight is unmistakable too. Side LEDs too I see :-)

Yes, it has side LEDs ;-)
And it is just as heavy as the Dolphin, both are round 5 kg.
But the Dolphin is a lot more comfortable on the strap than the Thumb.
