What are you listening to..ATM?

If you listen to one song from this amazing show in Germany... listen to Sugaree @ 10:52. Holy. Ballz. Jerry's 2nd solo is one for the ages.

Reactions: RIP
At the coffee shop writing with 'phones on, and decided to try some different background music-- I really like the bass melody, how it jumps into the upper registers and back, the tone, and not only where it sits in the mix, but how the song seems to be structured around it. The song was written by bassist Colin Moulding, so go figure. Probably a Fender Mustang or something, lol..

So I'm on an XTC kick-- in this vid, the lead singer makes me think of a punk/New Wave version of Florin (with all sincere respect, Flo-- I think this dude's cool)-- he also happened to be the bassist of the band. It's good antidote for my annual seasonal affective disorder and having spent the week with a cold. And I find the redhead and the blonde in the gold lame particularly winning!

Some of tonights Tube mix...

If you guys aren't familiar with Sabbath's '74 California Jam show... you should be. There's a rainbow on stage ffs. It's short, sweet and epic. Holy sea of people...and... Bill fucking Ward.... BEAST.

And Jerry doing one of my all time faves. A great hymnal.
"I heard a voice telling me to flee. The very same voice I'd always believed. Said a lot of troubles coming, but it don't have to come to you"

So this is how I found out about them-- visiting a friend while on leave from an overseas station- he had this album in blue vinyl-- interesting album cover- you can't see it in the pic but the lead locust had blood dripping from its mandibles--the lyrics are poetically and comically dark, but entertaining to read..I have to give the vocalist props for a charismatic vocal range... one might wonder how I went from XTC to this in the space of a few hours... it's a mystery to me....

I really got this "Old School" funk thing going on in my head......for example

Groovy

Lets bring a little Latin flare into this...with a healthy dose of acid.

I really like the bass line in this as well, but you need to tune to Eb. If features Rustee Allen and Bill Lordan of Sly and the Family Stone.

My favorite song by them is Junior's Eyes off Never Say Die

I alway liked Joe Walsh either with the James Gang or solo better than with the Eagles. You've heard Barnstorm I'm sure-- I also like So What.
