Warwick wax...where is best to get it??

A simplistic question - but I just received my gorgeous new Corvette, and though the manual says some wax should have been included, there was none. I'd like to get a tin or so. Found a few spots online, but prices seem to vary - any leads on who might be best to order from?

Ask your local Warwick dealer Fritz.Your new bass is natural oil finished yes?If it's coloured,you dont need wax.

In the US get it from Mike's Chop Shop, they sell through Ebay, have by far the best prices around, and great to deal with. He's a real Warwick dealer too, the stuff I ordered (wax and a flight case) through Mike was sent directly from Dana B. Goodes, within a couple of days.

Wax is ok for the back of the neck,but if the body wood has any colour on it at all,then you dont need to wax it. :wink:

Right - I was actually clear on that(the body)...thanks to you and the Forum!! But you don't sound sold on using the wax for the neck either - should I just use a little lemon-oil or good natural wood-oil along those lines instead and just skip the wax altogether?

The best way to do it is wax the back of the neck.This isnt critical as the neck gets plenty of oil from your hand.
On the fingerboard use lemon oil,very sparingly.I know some people that use wax on the fingerboard as well as the neck.If you do this use very little wax & make sure you buff it all off so it doesnt clog your strings.

Thanks Greg! I think I've got it all now.

I am also now understaning the thread a few pages back about just how...er, delicate that Ash body is!! Already got a few minor marks - must have left a fingernail too long?!?(I play pretty aggressively I suppose) Oh well...it sounded freakin' incredible with my band - cut through the din magnificently, so what's a few "warwounds" here and there?! :twisted:

Yeah I have loads of marks on my vette $$ and its only been a month. But trying to keep it in pristine condition in a rock band whilst jumping around onstage (and studded belts, ahhh!!) would kill the fun...I prefer to to think of it as mojo - Something that gives your bass character, makes it truly yours. But if you are intending to sell it... careful

Haha, he used that guitar actively for like more than 20 years. When he finally got a new one, he sold Blackie for charity Some VERY wealthy rock'n roll collector has it now.

I am definitely trying to stay with the "mojo" approach, which is good advice. I do tend to think of instruments as 'tools' to be used first and foremost , so I'm not a fanatic about a bit of wear and tear. I was just surprised at just how delicate it was I suppose. Still, sound and feel are what is really important to me and this bass blows all others I've owned away in that regard!
