Warwick TubePath 10.1 with what Cabinets ????

Hi Guys,
I bought a Tubepath 10.1, but i don't need more than 500w of power...why didn't i by the 5.1 ??? because there was no one at the store!!! So i tried X-treme 5.1 and tubepath 10.1 ? but i love the tube sound from the tubepath...
I bought also a wca115Nd to play with but i have some problems because teh 10.1 puts a lot of power in to it. i tried a 112Nd with a 115nd but i don't think it the best choice...so i bougth a 411pro 8ohm that came with a problem in one speaker...so i am asking to you guys do you think that the 411pro+115nd it a good setup, do you think it is best the 411pro only. Or do you think that i have to change the cabinets for another...
Another question is : Hom much power can i put on the amp with only the 115nd8ohm, with only the 411pro and with the two without having the possibility of have problems...?

Hello Jan 74, welcome to the form.

You can use the amp with any cab you like, as far as you keep the volume to have a clean sound coming from the cab.

114 ND is not usually a standalone cab, it is good to use together with 411 ND or 112.
411 Pro is a nice cab, I've used it a lot, and I really like it.

Try all the combinations, and use the one that sounds best for you.
For the last question, again, as far as you don't hear any distortion, it will be ok. 12 o clock it should be just fine, and LOUD

as most people here know I use the 411ND & the 115ND with the tubepath 5.1 & absolutley love it. best of all worlds & easy on the back.
Try before you buy!!

Do you think that is best to change 10.1 for the 5.1 if i want to get 115nd togheter with 112nd ?
 
No, 10.1 is a good amp, and it will sound cleaner for the same loudness. You just have not to boost the master too much

Hi Florin, it´s been many time since we talk... I have been playng wuth my tubepath 10.1 and the 411pro. I like most than the 115ND because i have a more "punch" in the sound, BUT... i have some strange things to teel you: Sometimes i love the sound of my rig , and sometimes i hat it !!! Could this be caused by the electric instalation ??? This weekend i been plaing in a club 2 days . In the firts day i could get my sound (punch Briter and well defined) but the second thay i go round an round and can´t get the same tone..strange !!! I feel the same in some shows...Do you think i can imitate some compreession in my sound with TUBEPAHT or do i need to buy a good compressor (tell me one...) Thanks
 
no compression with the tubepath, imo. I've got one and I bought a seperate compressing unit to get a tighter sound, when needed.

and what you are describing: If you didn't change anything on your setup - it won't change your sound. maybe some things like humiditiy and air pressure have SOME effects - but most of it psychosomatic.
don't worry - that's something every musician has from time to time. All your senses are influenced by your brain in a lot's of ways - e.g. your emotions have great impact how you see, feel and hear things.
So don't blame the amp - leave it as it is or try minor adjustments, but your sound will be okay, even if you can't believe it ;)

I gotta remember those next time I need a lame excuse for sounding bad ;)

Well if the bar moved, say from Denver to New Orleans
over night, maybe air pressure / humidity would have an
effect... However, a stationary ordinary non-migrating
bar wouldn't like face the same variables. :P

Yes, a bad electric network can give you a bad sound, especially on tube preamps.

But sometimes, as bojan said, we have a different state of spirit, and we feel, hear everything different.

If you keep the gain to have the orange LED clipping, you'll have a natural tube compressed sound.
I've used with a lot of success the old Symetrix 501 compressor. Look on ebay, you might find one cheap. If you find one, look for one with a toggle switch for power, not square push button ;-)

It really is like that. Concerning the physical properties of soundwaves it's not even remarkable - it also wouldn't be abnormal for such things like humidity and pressure to change: One day rain, the other happy sunshine and you have changed both to nameable amount!
Nevertheless(!) the effects are known to be .... marginal ;)
But so is the borderline between "best sound i've ever had" and "i somehow don't like my sound today" :D
 
This is true, but mostly on large systems, where there is a lot of air between the PA and the audience, and it effects the sound yes.
I don't think that 1- 3 meters of air have this kind of influence though.

i've tried it a few times - it was one of my two favorites.
got the tc vintage then - but I've got some distortionproblems when my input is too high.
so by know i wish had bought the ebs....

it's nothing wrong with it!
 
Ask the sound guy at your gigs if the phantom power is turned on at the mixing desk. This can do strange things to my tubepath (if your using the di out the back of your amp), Also I find the tubepath can be very troublesome if the house power is either dirty (lighting rack on the same circut for example), or earth leakage etc etc. It has a big effect on how the rig sounds. Same room different power point can help. Or just bite the bullit & buy a power conditioner..

Also I find that if I fart on stage, this alters the cosmic humidity on stage which coupled with the bad karma of the other band members has an tremendous rythmic effect on my Face & sound.

Never tried one, I use only rack ones, but as far as I know it is highly recommended by many players. I don't think you can go wrong with one...

Just be sure you use it wisely? Even the best compressor can be your worst enemy.
 
I have the EBS Optistomp and love it. No noise and works great.

Edit: I have a BBE Optostomp optical compressor pedal not EBS.

I dont use on stage compressors now, its amazing how you learn to play better without them. Your feel improves so so much, But if you just wanna be loud then...
