Warwick Streamer Stage II (1995)

Hello

My name is Julien and i am new in this forum. (i' m french, please excuse my english)..

I was looking for a second hand Streamer Stage II and i've found a Streamer Stage II (1995) with Bartolini' s pickups.
Do somebody know the difference of sound with SS II with MEC's pickups.

I don't, but I know a 95 SSII is pretty hard to find these days, so I'd buy it regardless of pickups. they can be changed.

If I were you I'd go for this SS2. You can't go wrong with a SS2 ! :D

(BTW, you Warwick-ers, beware of this young amazing French bass player. He's gonna kick your a$$es soon !) :twisted:

Certainly i will buy this wonderful bass!
If i don't like the pickups, i just have to change it for MEC's pickup..
Nevertheless, i would like to know the difference between these two basses..
I am impatient to test it..

I would like to ask a question to the Warwick Streamer Stage II 5 strings players:

Is 16.5 between the strings (bridge) enought for slapping, double popping and so on?
 
Yes it is. You just need to get yourself used it, and that takes time depending on how much your practice.
 
Ju is a GREAT player, he has been playing bass less than me, years-wise, but he's a killer. I feel ridiculous when he plays. :D

So I think he'll get used to this without a problem.

I've a lot of difficulties to choose my next bass.. 4 or 5 strings :?
 
I`d been playing 4-string for 5 yrs before I got my Yamaha TRB2 5, and in the beginning it was awkward since I don`t have particulary long fingers, but the Vampyre was much smoother, but I rarely use the G-string then.

Anyway, I think every bassplayer should have a 5`er laying around, just to have the option to get loooow. I want to get a 6`er as well, but I might go Ibanez BTB-style just because of the slim and smooth neck.
 
Bartolini equipped Warwick usually sound very growly, with a slight cut on higher frequencies and very tight lows.
Low mids are very strong.

MEC equipped Warwick usually sound a little less growly, with a more opened high end, lows are maybe a little less tight.
Less low mids and more high mids than Bartolini.

If you already know the difference between Bartolini's and EMG's, MEC's are more similar to EMG's.

Consider that with its Afzelia body the Stage 2 is already a very deep sounding bass.
